yea we usuallly suggest not to mix south american wit african because of the aggressivness and the ph… the ph for south am are 7.0-7-6 … after 7.8-8-2. but you could probably get away with mixing just try to pair them up to simular size. yea fresh is a little easier then salt if youve never done a tank before. but if you have then your ready for salt . the fish also cost more and soo do the supplies. I have a mated pair of tiger oscars ( meg and jack) and a mitus ( butters) butters is ending up to be a little shit head. We took the chance hoping he was going to be female…no dice, we have a nasty dominate male. He over took the oscars nest. They are very unhappy, and I don’t understand why they dont fight back… :catfight
