I could have added a poll but I like that it is separated. It can now be bumped for future reference as he is constantly whining about shit that in no way involves him.
I think both definitely pose some sort of significant danger. I have to say, I am surprised that after making a big deal about the photo thing previously, that this was allowed to happen.
It’s just funny that everyone defended the burnout jump the way they did, saying that it wasn’t dangerous since the cars were stationary (which is totally valid to me, fyi). Then it’s stepped up by about 10 notches on the danger scale by having the dude jump over a drifting car.
IMO, maybe Onyx could have allowed yambag to take a few pics of the pro drivers during a few runs, as a favor. Maybe Onyx was busy, or that wasn’t possible, though. I don’t know, I wasn’t there, and I am not Onyx.
In my opinion, any decent zoom lense could have gotten great pics of cars exiting the sweeping the turn. Yambag probably could have gone that route and still gotten really good shots. I say that based on the vids I saw.
obviously it was a dangerous stunt, many people have agreed in the other thread, i dont even see a point to this lol at newman just trying to get his sack riders all to agree…i never said that 100 cars was more safe than one bike jump, thats debatable though depending on where you stand etc.
as per your poll, as the collective whole…
point is, had jack actually gotten hurt, this site would probably be shut down, waiver or not. i’m sure josh and the track would have gotten a call from a lawyer, and i’m not sure where you come from, but thats not good for the board. so yes, everyone vote along with everyone else, show how much of a follower you are. cause the one time when this goes wrong, will be the end of things, and then where will everyone be?
The one time a drifting car hits a photographer and we are in the same boat… So the odds of a car hitting a photographer… oh wait we already had this discussion… and you still don’t get it. I agree the bike jump drifting car was a bit much, but some things are just out of your control, so we should all just STFU and move on with our lives…
It was brought up and I stated it in the other thread. The biker was setting up his ramp while amateurs were drifting around the corner.
Reason I didnt show up was because I was offered money to take photos for the JR Sabres that day and was informed that Friday to do it. Sorry but I’d rather get paid to take photos than show up and have a view I dont care for and not get paid.
They didn’t intend for the amateurs to be out while he was setting up. It was a miscommunication with the drivers…Which is why the blocked the entrance with a car as soon as they could. Obviously that takes a minute though, and a few people still went out. I am sure the organizers would take that back if they could.
As a fellow BMX’r, we accept the risk of doing pointless stupid tricks, and don’t give a fuck about the people sitting in a berm snapping photo’s. This isn’t even about risk, this is about a photographer that should learn his place.
I never met Jack, but doubt he’d want any heat over getting hurt doing trick. How often do you get to jump a drift car in a CONTROLLED environment.
