right. there is a reason why OEMs use clutch packs and spring blocks in LSD’s… it takes considerable force to make sure the wheels both spin.

www.mcmaster.com has friction material in various coefficients. (under raw materials: brake and clutch lining) i looked at this years ago. dunno if it will work though as i dont know if its meant to be wet. unless you have a machine shop at your disposal, the cost of machining the carrier, the gears and various other components is going to be close to buying a OBX, new diff bearings and races, pressing them on and buying the shims and installing them in the trans.

Neon trannies need .007" initial preload. once installed, use a torquewrench to turn the diff in the housing with no other gears installed. it should take 6-12 inlbs to turn it. if its too low, install a .002" thicker shim, too high, .002" thinner shim. dont stack the shims. youll need an assortment of shims to do this properly.
