anyone work at one of the clothing stores at a mall. Express, american eagle, gap, etc.?? I wanna get a part time job and was wondering how it is working for one of those places. you just fold clothes and cash people out right? or are there quotas you have to reach? it seems like a pretty easy job.
Used to work at Old Navy in college.
Boring as hell. There were some nice sights every now and again, but folding clothes all day was not fun.
i had a friend who used to work at hollister. he would sometimes have to work at like 3am to rearrange the store and shit. and you always have to stay after the mall is closed and clean the store and whatnot
My fiance worked at express this fall at the Galleria. Worked till 11, folding clothes, keeping the store clean, opening changing rooms. It was OK for her, except they didn’t treat the people very well since there were always gung-ho shift supervisors who really had no clue how to manage people.
hmm, doesn’t sound too bad. i think i’ll go grab some apps. after work
I work for wegmans, not a bad place to work at all…I’d say its one of the best “retail” jobs to work.
Its not hard work, but dealing with customers gets old fast. It could also suck alot depending how the manager is. I haven’t done it in about 7 years though.
Word. I worked at a hardware store in a hick town for 3 years during college. I have some stories from that experience. But I learned A LOT about home repair and improvement.
i’ve worked at american eagle, that was the most boring month of my life. i work in a liqour store now and it’s definitely not bad at all.
My friend works at Hollister, although I ask her why since she’s too nice to deal with nasty people all day.
Apparently it is because it smells better than Don Pablos.
Ewww Don Pa-Blows
well i’m looking for a PT job more to just meet new people in the area that are more my age. at my day job everyone is late 30s early 40s with family so i figured a PT job would be a good way to meet other people. A mall job would prob. be best for that right?
word…i used to work at express for men…it sucked…they had dumb managers and wouldnt work around your availablility
If you’re getting a job to meet chicks, why don’t you go work at a bar?
X…
im not really looking to meet chicks, just people to hang out with. if i worked at a bar i’d be there until at least 3am and that wouldn’t work to well with my day job.
I can’t help you with retail advice but I will say that it would be nice to work a store that has carpeting.
Working on a concrete floor all day can be tough on the feet and back.
I know it may sound silly but, it is true.
^^^Good point. As for a retail job for meeting people, I’d probably try to pick a place big enough. At a small place nobody wants to work with people all day, and then hang out with the same people after work. Are you in college? If so, find some place on campus.
ah, but, the flip side - you will become a walking static electricity capacitor. bad when you are touching metal racks all day. :uhh:
Total tan was hiring for managers, not sure if your willing to give up your other part time job but just a thought.
I was one of the managers at southgate Tanning Bed…such an awesome job as far as meeting people went, the pay was just rediculous.
nope, im out of college. I have a full-time 9-5 now so i don’t need the PT job for the money, but because i had to move for the job i know no one in the area, i’m gonna go to the mall tomorrow and pick up applications for all the clothing stores, i assume it’s chaos there tonite since all the h.s.'ers had off today.
