not me
Considering upmc is expedient’s largest customer…
sonny’s law firm < whitey’s sgi dc < logik’s upmc
I win :naughty:
We probably have somewhere close to 40TB onsite…
You picked up one of the new Dell NAS?
That was from a NetApp 940, which tend to be a little better, I’m still not sure about running a NAS on windows, even if it is more stable these NetApp boxes have insane uptimes, ease of configuration, and just flat out work.
funny thing is that i IM’d whitey, right after i posted, and said that you probably have more then all of us :embarass:
it’s the nas 2000s box… with some ‘mods’ … has the 6400 scsi card and it’s using ADG raid (new to me :hs: ) … neat stuff… i’m not all about nas boxes with windows running either, it comes with windows app server 2003 … they ‘claim’ it’s ‘better’ than unix / linux  i’m going to install redhat and probably just run that…
neat stuff… that integrated lights out with UID from HP is neat… pretty dumb hook up a server to the interweb to allow hard startups… and shutdowns…
i’m just new to the new nas rack mount lines… i’m used to just having a big server with a worm machine on a seperate hub…
:ugh:
switch… ghetto style
doh,
Wish i knew you were in the market for a NAS I could of gave you the rundown. You’ll probably have a hard time putting linux on it is it’s like a normal modified OS with specific drivers.
Netapp runs a specialized OS that has a special filesystem that is really nice. You can get your foot in the door with a TB on a NAS box for about 40/50k which isn’t bad. We have yet to have one die and crash on us and I’ve been here over 4 years now.
