I have a ton of experience working on cars, anything from oil changes to cam installs and everything in between but because I don’t have school paperwork it’s impossible to get a job as a mechanic. Apparently schooling is more important than hands on experience anymore?
Do you have experience working for a shop as a mechanic? Or just on the side type of thing?
NFTA … we need mechanics
Only personal work on my own cars, friends and family vehicles. Nothing on paper that’s the problem.
Don’t work on cars, sell cars, buy cars, or do anything involving cars as your way of making a living. Why you ask? Because then you will be a miserable prick asshole like me.
Haha, well I’m a good salesman and I actually had an interview at Zeigler Honda on the blvd today and will most likely be offered a sales position but I’d much rather lose the tie, grab a wrench and do what I’m most comfortable at. If I’m not at work, I’m wrenching on my own car. Current status of my beloved Evo
It’s what I enjoy
You wont enjoy it when you have to pull in some nasty ass car full of old mcdonalds wrappers, trash, and cig butts everywhere. People treat their cars like shit, i have had to get in a few peoples cars that were beyond gross, i put on rubber gloves and sprayed deodorizer. Its nasty
good advice. the only car i like working on is mine. and that’s only for modding. I hate fixing shit when it breaks lol
No truer words have been spoken. I sold my project cars 6 months after starting at a dealership and never looked back.
:eek4: He said mcdonalds wrappers. I just imagine that last bite of a double cheese burger all crusty n shit lol
WTF
if its what u love then why not just go get the bullshit paperwork u will make more anyways???
Because it’s two years of schooling. I hate school, and it costs money. I have bills to pay so going to school+working enough to pay for the toys I have won’t work. And no, I will not sell my Evo to do so.
i worked 40+ hours per week, finished school, and have toys. if it’s something you want to do then do it. or just change oil at a shop and mount tires forever.
i would rather work at a performance shop than a regular shop or dealer just because of the difference of how ppl generally take care of their cars. the only difference then is dealing with haggard installs rather than just poorly maintained cars.
a person could have no idea what the fuck they are doing but they went to shithole ecc and took classes and will get hired and make more money than you
You told me you’d never tell anyone about this. Thanks.
Do you have your own tools? Not just a basic set of sockets.
Exactly my point, it’s bullshit. School means nothing when it comes to a good mechanic.

Yes, not an amazing set but I do. If I had a real opportunity I’d buy a complete Snap-On set, new box and tools. I definitely know what I’m doing and I get my work done quick and right the first time unlike half the “school qualified” techs out there.
I’m going to ECC tomorrow to get the information I need since now is the time for fall signup, it’s just bullshit how I need a piece of paper saying I sat in a classroom and learned how to work on vehicles.
That’s a load of shit. I been interviewing/hiring techs for years. I have found the most unqualified were uti/wyotech graduates. I look for reliable hard working technicians. Pm me your resume.
You couldnt be more wrong
