So I’ve been watching the original series of The Office, which is British and made by the BBC. So obviously some plotlines have been borrowed by the American version of the show. The pilots were almost identical.
There is one major difference however. The British version is 1000000x more vulgar. In one episode there is a photoshop of David (aka Michael) circulating the office. The cast gets into discussion about weather the two other guys in the photo were “jizzing on him” or if “one was jizzing on him and one was sucking him off.”
The shit they say is fuckin hilarious. Tim (aka Jim) get a present from Dawn (Pam) for his birthday, and its a giant inflatable penis.
There is just so much funny perverted shit on the show its awesome. But its an element that the American version is entirely missing. It’s really too bad. Why does everyone in North America have to be so uptight? Anyone who has seen European TV knows what I mean.
The bad thing about the British Office is I don’t get many of the jokes or I can’t understand what the fuck they are saying sometimes.
Pfft, tell me about it. There are a ton of brit shows that are fucking hilarious if you understand the references they are making. There was a brilliant show called coupling, which was imported to north america and promptly dropped after about 3 episodes because it didn’t have enough stupid humor in it. The british version was hilarious, but most of the episodes built to a 3 minute “orgasm” of hilarity and americans wern’t willing to wait.
Brits have a very harsh sense of humour. e.g. Top Gear - look how Jeremy rips up Richard every show, if i was Richard i would kick his ass. You have to have really thick skin to handle it. Hence, why their jokes are always hilarious. Here in the Americas we seem to want to be politically correct.
Ever notice that in a movie edited for content so it can be shown on TV in the US can’t include any nudity but in the first five minutes they can fire off a few thousand bullets and no one seems to think that is an issue?
Its just the natural progression of things. We’re always 10 years behind Europe. Soon there will be boobs shown on sesame street here. I can’t see how anything morality-wise will actually get better in north america, only worse.
Anyone ever watch Dumb and Dumber on Superstation or whatever the hell its called. The part where he is imagining he is undressing Mary naked, the camera is slowly panning down and when it gets to her boobs they are actually headlights. They cut that part out. Like WTF… what is the harm in seeing a girl with lights covering up her boobs? So stupid.
If you wanna figure out why the Americans are so “sensitive” all you have to do is realize that the Mayflower was full of people so uptight about their religion that the church of england actually said, “get the fuck out!”
