finally decided to take a look at the air filter in the car which i am guessing was aftermarket, and i look at the top and it seems normal, then i pull it out and voila…

:shoot:at least the filter was doing its job… now i gotta take a loook at the friggin spark plugs etc… the kid said he just had BMW service on the car… doesnt seem likely that this filter has ~12k on it

I’ve never purchased a used car that I didn’t bring home and immediately change the basic fluids/air filter. Even when buying from a dealer. On the slight chance they put new stuff in you know they probably put the cheapest they could find.

yea, well he had just had the inspection II done on the car… the dash showed 11k miles till the next service etc… even had an oil change reminder on there from the BMW dealer from 2 weeks prior… perhaps teh BMW dealership didnt look @ the filter since it was aftermarket ? and it looks pristine on the back side
