Win XP "adjusting deadzone"???

Ok, so I’ve been looking for an answer to this for the past hour or so. Is there a way to adjust the deadzone/sensitivity for analog joysticks in Windows XP?

I own 3 different joypads (2 are older) and a PS2 controller (all setup the same as a PSX controller).

It doesnt matter which one I use, when I go to calibrate it, the left joystick jumps around slightly (no problem what-so-ever with the right one). Adjusting the joystick sensitivity/deadzone would do the trick, but I can’t finy any info about it (or if it’s even possible).

anyone know?

i have the same problem with ps2 controllers when i use em on my pc. i noticed it happens to all of my ps2 controllers cus the analog sticks wear down and if u move em slightly in any direction, they will move the character in the game. would be interesting to hear a solution.

any solutions found?

nah… nothing yet  :frowning:

only thing I found somewhat helpful is to use a program called joy2key. Set the game up to use the keyboard/mouse then configure joy2key so the joystick is emulating the keyboard functions. For the X and Y axis it gives you a sensitivity/deadzone adjustment. Kind of a pain in the ass honestly but better than nothing I suppose

nice  FINALLY lol… you can use this app to adjust directx’s joystick deadzone settings

I have yet to try it… I’ll let ya know later… bout time (I was honestly ready to go out and buy another controller because of this)

wow i have no idea how to use that program

LOL me neither… after some looking around I think that might only be for logitec joypads… not sure though.

I also found out that directX 8 and 9 (maybe even 7 too) wont let you adjust deadzone sensitivity and save it. I’m gonna keep looking

yea let me know if you find anything else
