Windshield cracked WTF! Fix or replace

if you dont mind fixing a crack for 120, why not pay the extra 50-70 for a new one?

im telling you…its not going to fill.
and the resin just fills the chip and stops its from spreading…it still looks like shit and when the sun hits it it will glare.

find a junkyard piece of glass if your too cheap to pay for a new one…
or for a laugh call your dealer and get a quote for an oem piece of glass.
should put things in perspective

I bumped that thread earlier this summer when I needed a windshield done. PM mickdad246, he knows a guy who will do it. I forgot his contact info since I moved, but he came right to my house and replaced it for $150.

Mechanical failure that causes a collision is comprehensive claim or a “natural disaster” that the driver can not control (AKA: deer or other animal) is covered, as well as a theft from the vehicle.

Driving to fast for conditions in a snow storm is collision coverage.

thats what i thought^

Yea i dont care if i still see the crack aslong as it stops spreading

your right though. I talked to the guy more and they said they will put in a new windshiled for $151

thanks guys

HAH so the crack grew another foot since this morning.

New windshield it is

good call glass is structural on alot of cars these days

I had safelite put a new windshield in my saturn. The glass is not OEM quality, it is made in china…

I can see a few light scratches in the window after like two years, but its a pos daily driver so I don’t care too much.

Adding glass on my insurance was like 6 bucks a year more…

safelite glass is almost always pretty crappy.
they use oetech moldings also wich fit like shit.
ppg and lof produce the closest and sometimes better than oem pieces of glass.
my company will use safelite a great once in a while only due to availablility of the piece.

just change the windsheild

^ Breetime, who do you recommend for new glass so I can search for this thread next time I need a windshield.

Seriously… no deductible too… thats always the first thing i make sure I have

pm’d

Its an accident… A tree fell in the road during a story in January 2008, I slid into it and totaled my car. Rates went up the following period, not a ton though…

Can you post it on the forum? I am interested too

I’ve used Colbys affordable a few times and been very happy. They came out to the house an did both windsheild and rear glass in my 68 and did a great job

how much do you guys get quotes for removal and reinstallation of the same glass, local places are quoting me 100/window!!! x 3 windows = 300 for removal and 300 installation

I think it was $3 /6 mo. for full glass, no deductible through Geico.

But that of course is with comprehensive…

When safelite ‘repaired’ the chip on my dads windshield, it looked like garbage, and I noticed the repair, contrary to what they claim.

I didnt even know you could fix a crack… New windshield time.

doesn’t zero deductible glass just come with comp? I’m going to have to read my policy now it’s been a while since i needed a free windshield…

Goes both ways; most are $0 or $50 deductable.

really? when i had my ranger i didnt have anything except the very basic and i had glass. I didnt need full coverage to get glass
