Wiper TRANSMISSION!!

hey guys, i’m in desperate need of a wiper transmission (i have a '92 model)… ive been driving all over in junkyards trying to get a hold of one. unfortunately, the ones i found had seized bolts.

So, if ANYONE has or knows where to get this part, please let me know… i really dont feel like resorting to the dealership!

wiper motor, available here already removed from car.

located in Kitchener

i need the transmission… not the motor…

wiper transmission? huh?

yup… theres a transmission for it believe it or not… the metal bar that goes across to each wiper from the motor.

thats just hte linkage. go to nissan. when i needed it it was like 14 bucks i think?

Brock

actualy i was about to purchase this… the wiper transmission is actualy the 2 rods to link the wipers… and to the motor… and the nuts/bolts… basically the whole wiper assembly excluding the motor… i believe nissan wanted $140 for the whole kit…

soo why do u need the whole set for??? if u just need the arms they are cheap… like $20 each arm… or do u need the pivots???

i believe i only need the pivot cuz only the driver side doesnt work, and the passenger side is working perfectly… nissan would probably try to fuck me over and say i need the whole kit. i wouldnt need the whole thing, right?

Nope, im gonna save you some bucks

i thought i needed that also… then when they said $140 im basicaly thinking fuck this let me look into it lol… undernearth the hood udnerneath the whipers remove the black plastic facing and you will need to look underneath and you will see 1 rod from the righ side of the car where the passenger side is going to the middle pivot… then u will see another rod from the middle pivot to the driver side… i had the same issue… all you need to do is snap the bars back into the pivot and VOILA… it will work… will take you lets say half an hour to fix but thats pretty quick… if your pivots are broken or the bar THEN buy the transmission kit if u need to… but in my case the rod slipped off the pivot…

try it out… and let us know and hopefully it is the same issue i had, just it fell off the pivot…

ohh, the arm with the ball/socket pivots. yeah I bought 1 of those before and it was less than $20.

The problem lies in that the sockets are plastic and often become brittle and break, so re-attaching it is sometimes a temporary fix…

Just put a Beed of weld on there and you will be in SICK shape

thanks Genra,

small problem though… 2 of the 3 bolts that unscrew the wiper are seized… maybe it will take 3 cans of wd-40 to get those suckers out…

not likely, ususally the studs behind become free and just spin

ooo… now your on your own… i never removed any of those hehe… all i did with snap the rods back on the pivots heh… yea but mine were all rusted to so i didnt bother touching it

slip a set of VISEGRIPS needle nose in there to hold the stud if possible…

I used an impact gun to burn the spinning stud outta the plastic
