ok so im selling my desktop and want to wipe everything out and reinstall windows. i have the cd and key. how do i go about wiping everything off the computer? can anyone provide a walkthru? or website with information?

Install in C:\ and run the full wipe option, “good enough” in most cases.

it will do a low level format of the drive.
then, after… boot off of the windows CD and press ENTER then F8 to agree then ENTER to install windows.
Do the defaults for the install and at the end, when it asks for a user name, just put “User”
easy enough
Just format the drive and put windows on it like normal… depending who you sell it to they probably won’t care.
or just buy a new HD, 400GB costs like 70 bucks now and do an fresh install…
are you concerned with people stealing shit from your use of the computer?
just use the format option in the windows setup off the cd, why make it harder then it has to be.
