Not sure whats up with my router, its a linksys WRT54G. All the lights , including the power light, are blinking green conitously. My wireless no longer works but all my LAN lines still do. I tried pullin the power for 30 seconds and resetting but its still doing it. Its loaded with dd-wrt … anybody know what this is off hand?
dd-wrt is an aftermarket linux based OS for the router. It’s what I run, it’s legit. … post some screens of the wireless config when you go into it.
Yea my friend installed it on here years ago, and its been working flawlessly. All of the sudden the wireless stopped yesterday, but my laptop works with cable
Does your laptop see the wireless signal at all in the Network Connections Center?
Did you try to “repair” the connection. If not, use the repair function. If it can’t repair it will give you an error. Post that error on here.
Most importantly, go to the Command prompt and type “ipconfig”. Post the screen shot from that and we’ll go from there.
he means type ipconfig /all
Thanks :banghead
lol :thumbup
OMG rofl:rofl:rofl SAME problem for the last 4 days. im going out tommorow and getting a new wireless router.
Just get a new one. You get a nice one for like $45. I got a top of the line gaming one for $80 like 2 years ago (Zyxel X-550). The one I want now is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16833127243
I have the Motorola SBG900. Its nice because its the cable modem and wireless router in one.
if you can’t put a different OS on it, don’t buy it.
actually… have you tried completely resetting the thing back to default settings? i believe you can do it by holding in the reset button for 30 seconds. If not you can do it from inside the software. I’d try that before I went spending any $$
You could update the firmware too.
Sounds like somehow the OS on it fucked up.
You need to do a 30-30-30 hard reset.
Here’s what you do.
Find the reset button on the back of the unit, and press and hold it for 30 seconds. Then unplug the power chord to it while still holding the reset button down, let 30 seconds pass, and then plug it back in, while still holding the reset button down for another 30 seconds.
So basically, you’re holding the reset button down for a minute and 30 seconds, never letting go.
Once you’ve hit the minute 30 seconds mark, take your finger off of the reset, and let it chill for like 10 seconds or so. Everything should be settled down. Then you power cycle it one more time by unplugging it, letting it chill for about 10 seconds, then plugging it back in. Let it chill and settle down, and see if all the lights are blinking and stuff still.
If they are, and you’re frustrated with the whole thing, then you could sell me your bad router.
I’m serious. I’ll give you $5 for it.
^ I was just about to say, do the 30-30-30 hahah
DD-WRT FTMFW! I have a crazy wireless bridge setup and I turned my access point into a router :lol
DD-WRT is the shit…
Only thing that sucks for me is my WRT is only the 2mb model so I need to run the stripped version.
Anyways man post soem screens up of the config on the router, also as stated do an ipconfig /all and see whats comming up
Can’t hit config screen … Tried inplugging and also reset button. I read about the 30 30 30 and figured that was next. Will try that tonght and also other suggestions.
Thanks guys
Ok did the 30-30-30 reset , and still the same problem. Not coming up in my wireless connections
if you want to drop this thing off at my house i will flash it for you / take a peek at wtf.
What kind of computer is it? I had an HP laptop that gave me the same issue (would not find wireless networks). Read all over the web that is was a “motherboard” problem and needed to go back to HP to get fixed. With alittle bit of trouble shooting, and downloading avanquest connection manager (freeware) onto the machine, haven’t had a problem anymore.
