but even if prices come down, interest rates going up keeps the costs high unless you’re a full cash buyer. worse still for me if the CAD getting raped with the interest rate differential.
seems like very little has been coming on the market in WNY in the last few weeks. looking forward to spring though.
The other side of interest rates climbing is it locks some people in their current home. Tough to sell your house and give up your current 2.5-4% mortgage to buy a bigger place on a 7+% mortgage.

Rents seem to be really high these days.
Our former babysitter is renting out a house she bought 2-3 years back for $1,800/mo.
I hope this trend continues as I’m going to rent out my dads house after some cleanup and I’m trying to buy another “as is”- but it needs a lot more work.

I bet you could make bank renting that out as an airbnb if it were in a little better location, like walking distance to the good section of Hertel, Elmwood or downtown. Where it is in Blackrock there isn’t really much in walking distance, and the type of renter that would jizz about staying in a shipping container home is going to want to walk everywhere.
