well i saw this red poster at school for 15.50 an hour to be a sales rep and i was like shit it might be a big scam but ill call up anyways, so i went for an interview today and they want me back for a second interview (just like everyone else im sure) and from what the guy told me its 15.50 per appointment you make with a client to sell kitchenware but they come to you, which sounds really strange but im gonna go back for the seoncd interview anyways, full time is 35-40 sessions per week, 15.50 no matter if you sell nothing or everything, if you do sell its 15.50 plus comissions, sounds too good to be true
yeah heres how that works: you start getting “clients” by doing the sales pitch to your family and friends, and neighbors. they all feel sorry for your pathetic ass, so they buy a little something. the “idea” is that those people will then in turn tell their friends/family about you, and you will get in with those people, and they may or may not give you the time of day. eventually, u run out of “customers” and I would imagine that happens rather quickly. I believe the term is “pyramid scam” or maybe a modified version of that?
EDIT: now that I think about it, those people used to come in all the time when I worked at the UPS Store, they are the sleeziest, cheapest shitbags in the world.
dude its fucking bullshit. i did it like 4 years ago and it is such a waste of time. they get you to sell shit to your family and then rape their friends wallets too. the people there a weird as hell too. the knives are really good quality but the job sucks.
edit: oh and the 15.50/hour means you get paid 15.50 per appointment that you do, which typically takes about an hour. it’s all a fucking game of deception.
i hated it for the most part, but i’m glad i did it.
had fun, went on a few trips, pocanos was great… the workshops were actually pretty good, life lessons learned… sucks calling people and making appointments, but it teaches you how to sell… and most importantly, sell yourself… which will be with you for life. I only did it for maybe 2 months… at most… some people that had been there over a year were making 50% commission which is sick when u’re selling $800+ sets on a regular basis… all depends who ya know.
