Work pics v. VDUB and Porsche

Snapped some pics today at work of what we are working on. First is a Scirocco that had a decent amount of rust. Here is what we have done so far:

We had to replace the rocker on the driver side and also the inner wheelhouse which we finished last week.

Spare tire well patch panels that we made:

Gas filler patch that we need to finish:

Here is what I did today, fitted the back panel and started welding it up:

And the Porsche which I haven’t worked on in a week or so because of the scirocco.
Ran the headlight wires and horn + turn signal wires:

Gas tank painted and installed:

Underneath already done for the most part:

I had to repaint underneath the dash because the shop that painted the car originally over sprayed everything with white. I also had to scrape all the over spray off the wires, it was a huge PITA.

New floor:

And finally the engine which we still have to take apart so we can repaint all the sheet metal and go through it:

cool? why waste money on a rusty old vw.?

a? don’t you mean two?

Is the Rocco a 78?

:picard:

I’m 99% sure it is and yeah its a lot of effort for the little the cars worth. My boss calls it an exercise in futility, but its a good car for me to practice my fabricating skills on instead of a 356.

What are his plans for it?

Right now its his backup car, but eventually he will probably want to sell it once we finish fixing it up.

Keep me posted, I’m pretty interested…

Alright, I’ll let keep you in mind when he decides to get rid of it.

i have a soft spot for 356’s :eekdance:

kit or real

IIRC its real

same for me about the rocco!

 cool thread

Yeah its real its a '57.

Nice! It’s refreshing to see that there still are people on this site that are actually involved in an automotive project of some sort, and aren’t just coming here to post stupid shit all day.

I really dig that Scirroco…looking forward to more pics. Is it just bodywork that you are doing with it?

Well the reason we starting working on it in the first place was the gas tank was leaking, but once that was out it made it alot easier to get to some of the rusty places. So then we starting working on that and got a little carried away. But once we finish and the gas tank is back in it should be road worthy again.

May I have sex with the Porsche when its finished?

Cosigned.
