The guy at Mercedes is Bob Jr. The guy that runs the WoW (Bob Sr.) also runs the National Street Rod Assocation’s Eastern Nationals in York PA every June.
better floor lay out,
more organization from staff
Less “Vendors” ex. carpet cleaner guy, die cast cars that took up 1/10 of floor space
Cars in the lobby, maybe featured cars??, or all bikes??
Better catering to showers/Vendors
Application for entrance of a vehicle, not bring whatever you want to bring
bigger names, Troy was there 3 years ago?? that was awesome
Keep the sections together, like previously mentioned
Lose the fee for ISCA since most ppl only show at this ISCA sanctioned event
give some more space to each atendee
get somthing on the speakers rather than a guy talking about pin striping
Times have changed and so should the show to keep with the times, dont book old acts for the old heads, book acts everybody will want to see
-Last year was dude from dukes of hazrd… and ppl from A.G.
Personally I like to see cars that ppl put time and money into, i dont care if its a donk or a 32 plymouth, if its done up, i enjoy looking at it, i love project cars, cause next year they’ll be completed projects.
I missed half the show cause evrytihing was pushed into a corner somwhere.
I think PS should petition WoW and show them that 2 THOUSAND ppl intend not to show at the next event if somthing doesnt change, and we have here in this post a list of things that should be differant,
Maybe then they’ll do it better for everyone. They need a selsection board to choose which cars make it in, and which ones belong in the parking garage,
cars that i seen that should not have made the cut.
Black Grand AM with red door handles and altezza tails
Black bagged Blazer with my frickin sticker on it again…
I know this has mostly been previously mentioned, but these are the ones i agree with.
Completely stock avalanches should not mak the show either.
If you guys (whitey) are serious about showing WOW publicizers this thread you would do well to eliminate assanine posts about removing automotive genre that the postee doesn’t fancy. IE: I hate imports, or I hate donks. I’m pretty sure a failing show isn’t going to do anything to help out a very small crowd of muscle car enthusiasts whom don’t come out. I don’t particularly like imports but I have a much better time at import shows. Is that because I’m a chauvanistic pig that likes to see half naked women objectify them selves, or is the not even the semantics of whats on display rather that they put the effort in to please a crowd? As Sinister said, make your show the best you possibly can and give the attendee something to talk about, and profit will follow you like a shadow.
#11 People need to stay with their cars. Or at least have someone with their car. I can’t count how many cars that Neonracer, my son, and I looked at, had questions, but couldn’t find an owner. Part of the draw, for me, to any show or even cruise isn’t just the “look, don’t touch”, it’s talking with the people that own it and built it.
its hard on the people that show their cars… the food gets expensive, parking gets expensive, traffic is a hassle and its a long ass weekend!
I do inderstand that, but it would seem that you could at least get someone to spend some time there when you not.
I remember it well. My dad used to take me every year when I was little.
Unfortunately, I just showed my old age.
I dont like to read alot, so i skimmed over the previous posts, and i’ll probably repeat something that’s already said.
I’ve been going every year, and about 3 years ago its started to trickle off.
Things i didnt like:
- I couldnt believe someone actually had a STOCK Avalanche WTF!!!
- Too many stock Monte’s (or G-bodies) with 30’s, and 2 tone paint. Custom my ass.
- The traveling cars, had such big displays, they could’ve fit more cars in. If more cars would’ve entered.
- When i was there 2/3 of the people were in line to meet someone. I couldnt get close to any of the displays, the lines were wound around the booths!!! That aint right, its a freakin car show.
Things i liked:
- Nice mix of Vendors, Imports ( a little less than expected), Domestics, Trucks, Race cars.
- Price was fair, but as the show gets worse, it wont be worth it.
- Car owners, very nice & polite. Learn more from talking to owner, then reading a plaque.
can someone post an email address, if they’re looking for comments and suggestions, i will write to them, and i type with better grammar than i speak.
BTW, i thought the white Saturn was very commical. It had alot of work done, and i can appreciate that, but i just busted out laughing when i was looking at it.
i stopped going to wow because the “import” side is such a disgrace, it set back true import racers 10 years in the eyes of other hot rodders. for every 1 nice import, you had 5 riced out ones.
domestic wise, most of the stuff was top flight resto stuff–which is cool and takes alot of work. But i dont care to see a stock car.
my ideal–get big time builder’s cars in the building. people will come. get ed roth’s cars in, or george barris, or even eddie paul. hell, even some vintage dragsters or indy cars. something aside form the cookie cutter car show stuff.
if i recall correctly, it is car shows like wow that made a name for people like ed roth w/ his “outlaw” car–being it was a fiberglass car in an all metal era… His cars packed the floor then, and will do it now. so what does that tell you–people wanna see different–not stock or rice that they can see in a grocery store parking lot.
if you want to bring in a celeb, outside of say local sport team celebs–as that appeals to all the yinzers, especially steeler players from the 70’s-- make them a “car” celeb. get a driver–be it from nascar, nhra, whatever. or even a builder or company owner. i know i wouldnt mind meeting vic edlebrock.
there has to be a way of contacting these respective people. you would think SEMA would have somthing to do w/ car shows of this caliber. I know when i read sema monthly, there is never a shortage of companies in the mag who seem willing to do presentations/etc.
thats my 2 pennies worth.

Get rid of the fucking 59 Drifters. It’s not the 50’s anymore and all your cars are pieces of shit. I understand the nostalgic style of rod, but not junkyard rustbuckets with shitty pinstriping.
-
Less Rice and Bling, more Tuners and Muscle.
-
If you don’t know how to clean a car, don’t enter it in a show.
-
A 1985 Mack Rig is not a show car, regardless of cleanliness IMO.
-
A Stock Avalanche. Need I say more? What’s stopping me from putting my car in in that case?
-
WWE Wrestler as the guest celeb. Who the fuck thinks of this shit.
-
I don’t care if your metal polish can make the bottom of my Mountain Dew can shiny.
-
That shit won’t take spraypaint off a car, trust me.
-
Again, Bling. A Bone stock Hummer H2 with 2 12’s and 30" Rims doesn’t appeal to me. Hood rich crap FTL. A '7X Cutlass 442 on 26’s? Give me a break.
-
$10 to get your picture taken in the General Lee. 50% of the damn '69 Chargers out there are General Lee clones, it’s not that special anymore.
I didn’t plan on typing that much, or being that vulgar… But I got some steam rolling there for a few minutes.
I did really like the 50’s cars, if thats worth anything…
x2
ike taylor… thats all i can say, ike taylor…
Too much for admission, for the quality of the show. I would not mind paying for a worth while show. id like to see more race cars and car celebs.
:dunno: Meet “Quick” booth?
The price to enter your car wasn’t that bad but the price for parking and food all weekend killed me. If you enter your car you should get a parking pass for the weekend, and maybe upstairs in one of the rooms have food set up for participants at a lower cost.
Negatives:
-Price for parking and amount of pariking space.
-Placing of the cars on thur. seemed unorganized. They had no idea how they wanted my car parked and when I came in of Fri. there was a display in front of my car blocking it.
-The sport compact section was small and low quality of some of the cars (grand am, stock avalanche, ect…)
-The entry fee was kinda high.
-
lower prices (admission, food, ect)
-
more european cars
-
different cars, im sick of seeing the same cars EVERY year.
-
no stock late models. what was up with the bone stock avalanche and mustangs?
i know i wanted to take my old man and father in law to the show.
i waited until saturday to hear some early reviews, most of which came back negative. because of that, i was not going to waste money on an over priced ticket, parking, and hassle.
now granted, i can understand the promoters being at the mercy of the convention center on food prices. food vendors in those buildings are contracted out and you come to expect to pay high prices, be it there, a pens game, pirate game, whatever.
but when it costs 10 bucks to get in the boat show, 8 or 9 to get in the home show, it makes the 13 for wow seem over priced, esp if you’re taking the family.
i too remember the old convention center wow’s where you had national cars in the mix with locals. it was bigger, you got more bang for your buck.
all cars should be welcomed, but don’t saturate on catagory with the same style. if you want to have some imports with stereos and tv’s, fine, but don’t let them all be that. have an equal number of built motor cars. they don’t have every 38’ ford as a rat rod. they have those, restored, street rodded etc. and yes, i agree with the areas for the cars. it gets to be over shadowing to be looking at a '48 mercury and right next to it having a truck with a 12" lift and 40" super swampers…
i agree with sailor on the celebs part. sure keep the old steelers coming, but forget the rest of the celebs they have. bring in some bigger named car people. it started going down hill when they had soap oprea stars the one year. really, who gives a rats ass seeing someone from days of our lives???
the idea of having demostrations is a great idea, esp with the pubilcity of a lot of our own do it yourself attitudes on t.v. the past few years. there is a lot of people in the general public who would love to see that up close.
judging is always an issue at most shows, but they need to keep it fair and equal. have better educated and open minded judges.
vendors do help with the cost of putting on shows, but if they are taking up show space, move them to the lobby. if vendors are not showing off shop cars, limit their space size if they are on the actual floor.
if the show organizers want it to grow and be sucessful, they need to listen to the participants. they are the ones that make it. yes, seeing cars etc in the dead of winter at a show helps ya get through to spring, even if some of them are ones you see all the time. but if you’re going to charge me an arm and a leg, give me poor service, give the show particpants bad attitude, and give everyone little or no incentive (ie: national builders, famous cars etc) then i know for one, they’re not getting my, and i imagine a lot of other peoples money.
I could see this more than the wrestling “stars” just because it might be something for the wifes to do, and be interested in. Therefore it brings one more admission fee for the show, and costs us a whole lot less than if she spent the day at the malls.
if they are going to be on the show floor, make it the outside walls. Where lighting isn’t as good, and there really isn’t many cars there anyhow.
