If it has a clean title i’d say i’d take it for 2500…I would only replace the shit that needed to and beat it
looks like my truck, i just have regular cab long box… same color… haha
Who ever hit the tree hit it in the right spot. It probably missed the front axel, fenders, lights, hell even the airbags probably did not trigger. I have fixed these before.
In all honesty you need to look at it closer. If you look at the angle of the bumper and grille it looks like it rode up the tree a little. If so, it MAY have missed the motor. Don’t get me wrong this thing hit HARD. If nothing is up against the motor it may be worth fixing. I would just work on the price. Again, it is very hard to tell from the pic. My guess is that the brackets holding the bumper are now in a V-shape which acted like guide for the bumper to ride up the tree. The bumper mounts, radiator, fan, battery tray, rad. support, trans cooler, hoses, wiring for the lights/airbags/fogs/etc…are all F’d. If the thing is “totalled,” but not really totalled, I would offer him 100 bucks more than the scrapyard or go no higher than 900. Seriously, walk up with 900 in cash in your hand. If he doesn’t take it, walk.
You will need a around 1500 in parts outside of the hood and grille to get it running and you will need to weld in a few things. Add another 900 for a decent paint job (the hood needs color and the fenders will need to be blended in). You could rattle can it black for now to save some $$$. I would not use the paint they are giving you.
I agree 110%.
If it was mine I might let you have the box for $900.
