I’m thinking about buying this 2003 Dodge ram 2500 with 107,000 miles. It smacked a tree. It comes with a new hood and grill. Its at the frame shop right now getting checked out. I can get it for $4000. It also comes with a qt. of paint. What do you think I would have invested into fixing it all said and done?
I wouldn’t touch it.
Not for 4000… i bet that truck is worth… maybe 9000 in good condition if it wasnt smashed. And i bet its going to be a good 3-4 K to fix… and in the end u have a truck with a salvage title for 8k?? I am assuming the insurance company totalled it out?? which obv. lowers the value. So i would probably stay away unless u can get it for alot cheaper than that.
Frame damage automatically says to me stay away. The damage had to have hit some of the engine components, it’s likely fucked front to back. I’ve gone through this with a much cheaper car and it still cost me a motherfucking fortune to make it “right” again. And it still never felt right. Trust me on this. STAY AWAY
absolutly… the thing is probably twisted. buy a used one that is not wrecked… it would cost u the same thing i bet
thats what she said :mamoru:
Yeah man, she knew she couldn’t handle the massive 4incher.
lol.
Yea that truck looks pretty smacked , unless its not a salvaged titled and he is neg id stay away as well.
Dude, the truck is worth $4500 in average condition. A pair of nickels AT BEST.
one like this… the mileage on this one is lower too  but obviously in CA
completely correct.
No way, no how.
It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish here. if you can get it cheap enough to put back together and use as a work truck/ drive it into the ground, and not care about a salvage title, it might be worth it. Also, I wouldn’t be so quick to say it has frame damage, core support is definately shot, radiator, condensor for the ac and all the visable sheet metal is toast plus some other non-visable items, but the frame rails?? It didn’t get smacked in the side at 50. Better pictures would make it more conclusive. The owner is probabally looking to dump it as it is an 03, paid off, and figures now is the time to get a new truck.
since it has a gas engine I would say stay right away from it.
If you buy this…you surpass everyone who was in the hunt for dumbest NYSpeed member in 08.
If you got it for 1,000…they go for it…4grand is absurd for that truck in that condition.
yeah i kept thinking unibody…
pickups are usually full frame and very tough, but for 4000 id stay far far away
these trucks suck a dong to begin with.
worth 4k in parts, not to fix
Id fix it myself, if you have to pay anyone its not worth it.
