Would You Buy a New Car?

Maybe not the LS but definitely the GS 400 I prefer older vs newer.

Brian

I was just thinking something like this today when I saw some mid-30s lady driving a 198X caprice.

Granted I will never buy new, but cmon, I never want my DD to be some generic POS that is older than I am. it just says ‘this is not how I intended my life to turn out.’

I’d rather buy a new sports car rather then a used sports car. A used sports car will be abused most of the time.

I always liked the idea of buying a used car since id own the damn thing, but it depends what type of car im buying. A new car won’t act up till the warranty is over with.

Owning a used car doesn’t make one look poor, but i mean come on how many used cars still look good.

thats why I said generic POS. I am definitely in the used car only group.

Don’t you drive a toyota?

i say buy altleast one new car in your lifetime. going through a few or all USED cars does make someone look poor. thats when they try to sound a little better by rewording as “previously owned” instead of “used”.

Yeah, a nice new Camry proves you’ve made. Nothing screams style and individuality like those great new cars they offer today. Treat yourself, you’ve earned it, get a new Toyota, that’s living life.

Some shitty used cars, man they look dated and old.

Deathproof what do you drive?

A piece of SHIT, but I am in school and I have plenty of scratch saved up. I will DD something sweet once I’m out of school. I really like old British stuff. I’ll have to keep a subie around for winter rallies though. I’ve got my 94 cobra now, I’ll get sick of fast cars soon enough.

I like Austin Healey’s, I know sprite’s used to be sub $10k for nice ones. This is a nice 3000.

I know beck doesn’t drive a camry but still.

Newman can get away with the “I’m not poor” things because he drives a near-exotic and owns 2 other cars that are probably = value to the toyota.

However, anyone with a 15/hr job can finance almost any toyota. Fuck I’m 18 and I’m 100% sure I can finance and afford the highest trim highlander.

I’m not rich either. Why do I drive the things I do? Because I like to MAKE money off things I buy. Used cars are easily an investment.

Die.

I take it you live with mommy…I couldn’t afford a Yaris at $15/hr let alone a Highlander.

lol what is deathproof trying to prove by posting pictures of rare vintage cars?

I work for myself, so no I do not make $15/hr. But im sure if you worked 40hours a week+you could definitely afford it.

All I’m saying is: New Toyota=/= definition of “rich”

Well I haven’t exactly worked a day in my life yet somehow I went from a $300 escort to a $17,000 mazdaspeed6, a jeep wrangler + more, but shit what do I know?

Used car dealership?

Wait, never mind you must know more than I do about used car sales.

there is a big gap between “not looking poor” and “looking rich”

he buys, fixes, and sells used cars to make money. for him, it’s a money maker. For 99.99999% of people, it’s transportation.

I guess but the way he said it sounded cocky therefore I took it that way.

You’re right, but I could look not poor buy driving anything that’s 2004+ regardless of what I payed for it.

Lets play Deathproof’s game and post used cars that DO make you look poor.

No point in posting field cars lol

Apparently you haven’t read the thread. I’ll catch you up:

-The Toyota Camry is the only new car being made.
-The only used cars in existence are mint vintage sports cars.
-10 year old Subarus with 150,000 miles (if they existed) are going to be just as reliable as the brand new Camry because anything that was going to break would have already.
-It’s just as inconvenient when new cars break under warranty. (New car dealerships don’t give you loaners while your new car is in for repair, or hurry to get it done because they’re losing money.)
-If you can’t pay cash you can’t afford it. Period. Applies to everything. Debt is bad unconditionally. Except for houses, because you get back every penny you spend on interest.
-If you don’t make more per hour than the person you are hiring you should do it yourself. (Sucks when you need surgery, but that’s life.)
-I am too old for internet message boards.
