There are a few locals on Shattered Hand and Lothar servers if and when you get started…
Tips for starting off…
1.) If possible join on with some friends you have, makes the game more fun, and less pointless when you play together. As opposed to random nerds.
2.) If I was just starting off, and had no real preference as to who I was playing with and was starting up with my own friends. I would join a new server, and make sure its a pvp server. ( which means anyone can attack you, and you can attack anyone at any time. ) … A new server meaning one which just opened in the past month or so. ( This will prevent people that have been playing for the past 16months to just WTF pwn you whenever they want. Kinda evens the playing feild more. )
3.) Picking a character. Depends on your personality really.
If you like to just do all out damage and see huge damage points all over the screen, then I would suggest something along the lines of a Mage/warlock or Rogue. But the ability to do damage takes away your ability to take damage. And you will go down hard if something gets to you first. Mage/Lock are ranged, casters… Rogues are melee… rogues need to get up close and personal in battle… mages/locks cast spells from a distance.
If you fancy more of a jack of all trades. Good at everything great at nothing. I would do a druid/shamen/ paladin. These classes are good at damage, good at healing, and good at taking damage. But not really GREAT at doing any one thing. These classes are hybrids… nice class to get started IMO.
If you like being the guy everyone wants in your group, and prefer helping people in battle as opposed to killing. Go with a preist ( druids are also a great healing class ) … Preists can also do alot of damage but go down hard if someone gets ahold of them. Preists are casters as well, meaning a ranged fight… getting up close and battling someone is out of the question, and usually means death.
Warriors have the ability to do ALOT of damage, AND take ALOT of damage. BUT, they rely heavily on the equipment they posses. So you might find it aggrivating trying to get all the gear to make you that great all around player. They are a melee class which means you got to get up close and personal to do anything.
Hunters have the ability to do alot of damage as well, and take a decent amount. They get to train pets, and fight along side their pets. They are mainly a ranged class, meaning youll fight at a distance most of the time.
Each class has their own strengths and downfalls… Best thing is to play each one… get a feel for each. Pick one that suits your personality and style of play.
i wouldnt really worry about the character selection if yur just looking to dabble. and not take anything to seriously up front.
Hmm… can’t think of anything else right now… LOL…
Game I think is 50$ up front, gameplay is cheap as 13$ a month if you buy 6 months at a time… i think its 15-16$ if you go month by month.
