WTB 944, 240, RX7, e30

Alright, its that time to pick up my first car so i’m looking for something in the Long Island/NYC area. Not looking to spend more then 4k

What I’m looking for:
Porsche 944, Nissian 240sx, Mazda RX-7, BMW e30

Other offers will be considered.

good choices

good luck with the car buying process, it can be a pain in the ass

for 4K the only decent car you will find on that list, that dosent need a ton of work will be a E30. good luck

That makes no sense. All thoose cars are good choices for $4k, actually he should be able to find a good 240 or RX-7 for half that.

Thats most likely what i’m going to go with

Yeah, but if you are going for what I think you are going for it is such are hard decission not to go the extra money for the superior handling of the Germans.

You will NOT find a 944 that is good shape for $4k. Period.

^^ i got mine for $2500 and it was in good shape. it needed a sunroof seal, had 2 small spots where rust was bubbling, and it would have needed a paint job to be PERFECT, but the interrior was immaculate and it was in excelent shape mechanically. u cna get a good one for cheap, they’re out there, you jsut have to be patient.

Yeah, and I know a guy who picked up a perfect 951 for $500, your case is more of a rarity than the norm.

you probably couldn’t get a totalled rx7 with no motor for 4K either . . at least not a third gen, maybe a 240 though. . . good luck anywho

could def get a 240 for that, you may even be able to get a turboII rx7 (fc) for that

yea for 4 grand he could get an rx7, but it’d be a turbo II, prolly in “decent” shape but higher mileage

There were 10 under 100k miles that sold on the eBay (completed listings). So I am guessing that 944 go to shit way before 100k.

Besides I am guessing he is looking for a N/A RX-7, second gen, maybe first. He never said if I was right or not…

you guys are right, it really depends on the trim, or year, or motor in the car. you might be able to find a non turbo 944, but it will be slower then my volvo was. finding a turboII or older RX7 will be a hard find to get one for under 4K and not need a ton of work. i really dont know anything about 240’s so ill keep my trap shut about that.

ive spent a LOT of hours under MPD47’s 944’s. I will only work on his from now on, and thats because hes a good friend. they are a PAIN IN THE ASS to work on. we joked the whole time we pulled the motor on #2, that the germans were smoking crack when they designed some things on that car…

I need to call my insurance company findout some quotes, There wouldn’t be much differnce between those cars would there? there all 2D coupes, and tubros always add a little. Can I get it insureded under me since i’m 17 or will I have to be under my parnets somehow?

Well I belive I can find a 944 for under 4k, I was surpriced when I looked that there were actualy a few around me, as for the 240 there is a 95 automatic one with 90k miles on it listed for $2000 which I think is a steal I’m going to call the guy tommarow, also a s13 with a SR20DET in it but the car seems beat. The RX7 I was thinking of a 2nd gen one (FC) but these seem to be pretty rare along with a e30.

Consider an MR2? They can be had relatively cheap…contact me if interested, I’ll help you find one if necessary.

Well, how much is relativly cheap?

After talking to my dad he wants me to get somewhat of a cheap ride to start with like around $2000, thats why i’m looking for something that I can swap a new engine into and just tune on since I wouldn’t have money for a new car any time soon.

Lookout everybody, Julie knows best!!

X…

do not get a autotragic. you will only kick yourself later. You should be able to find a 240 for that price range and swap in a motor fairly cheap. However a t2 would be nice being turbo from factory, but rotary motors can be a pain. I guess you just have to have half a brain and watch your temp guage.
