If you’re smart about it you can do the swap for way way way less than 4 grand and still have a reliable car.

I had a coupe with an RB25 (RB20s are weak), I built the whole CAR for ~2,000, including cost of the car. Never had any problem with it… about 6,000km on the swap so far, though my friend now owns it.

is that coupe being passed around like a whore? lol…

Haha, sort of. I sold it to my friend, it’s getting a front mount, greddy manifold, greddy emanage, 6 puck clutch and some slicks soon (and a big turbo if I can convince him). Should be pretty fast soon.

That car is great, I wish I would have kept it.

seriously, take it from someone who has just finished this swap (last weekend), you’re looking at a budget of at least 3-3500. you CAN pull it off for less, like everyone says, but it may only last a week, or it could last a few years. do it right the first time. you dont “need” a FMIC for it, but it is best. and there’s also the chance of a bad sensor somewhere on the engine. this engine was never made in north america, parts are hard to come by, and expensive. just my 2cents.

^^^
plus the obvious timing belt, water pump, drive belts, thermostat, valve cover gaskets, crank seal, cam seal, the RIGHT spark plugs.

all that should be changed upon installation. I’m probably forgetting some things too.

Not cheap…well, reliabilty is not cheap.

sorry, I mean front crank seal and rear main seal. not cam seals.

oh and have fun matching some of those parts up, I did!

well, i just figured i’d leave out the obvious, lol. wayyyy easier to do it with the engine out of the car.
