hey kev lol… i seen them around and looks pretty nice… just never liked the popup lights… even have popup projectors but i dont like it lol… id like a nice flush look
i agree, the popups are extremely hideous. I’ve been trying to come up with a solution to rid of them without a silvia front (nothing against silvia front, just dont want it myself)
hard to find a clean replacement for the popups though.
buy a fiberglass repair kit from canadian tire comes with everything except flease or how ever its spelled. Buy the fleese flease… from a fabric place and buy sum nyce foglights. Once you pop out the old headlight assembly make a frame with sum plywood…after that make sumthing outa plywood that goes around your foglights and mount that to the original frame. lay ur fabric on it and shape it how u want…tahts the fun part. mix resin and hardener and fiberglass it…its not that hard just very time consuming. In the end you’ll have sumthing like this
then put sum plexiglass over it…just heat it up and mould it to the bend of the headlights a bit better than this guy to give it the 300 look
goodluck
i definitly would love to see a nice detailed how to on this sort of thing if you know of one or can make one yourself. i can fg decently but cant think in my head how to make the frame for those.
create a basic frame to hold the fog lights in place then attach the sides of the fleece onto the wood with staples or a glue gun and shape it to the general shape you want the lights.
After you have finished shaping it to the rough design of the lights
spray hardner into the fleece then after it hardens apply the resin.
Just take out ur headlight assy with the motor and everything. You have a lot of room to work with…grab sum cardboard and a measuring tape. Make your frame. Theres a lot of thinking and u will need a crazzy inmagination. Start thinking of things like hows this frame going to bolt onto my upper rad support. Think of if your foglights are going to stick up or stay down low if your putting sum plexi glass overtop of the lights. I got an idea from importfest on how they did it on a probe…they had two sets of fogs…siick foglights with euro angel eyes and they stuck up high…this is sumthing i might do or the 300zx look with the plexiglass…im going to start making a frame outa cardboard right now as this is sumthing id like to try.
Ok so ive almost finished my headlight conversion. So far its just been fiberglassed. Ive re-designed this thing 309571 times to make it simple and sick. Heres sum pics of the projector lights i used as well as the frame that i made out of plywood and part of the framing is out of coathangers cuz i can then work wonders and more shapes so when the fleece goes on it looks sick. theres also sum pics of the fleece stapled on. the stock headlight cover will go over this peice to hide the lights. only 2-3 inches will be cut off the front of the stock headlight covers…so if ur looking strait down on the headlight you wont really see much other than a bit of fiberglass work…Later on i may cover up the front open peice with plexi…if anyones seen or bent plexi let me kno. i have to bend it to contour to a decent bend. heat it and slowly bend it??? heres the pics more to come soon. Hopefully by this weekend.
PIAA=Expensive…their bulbs alone are a furtune. Two sets of lights cost me 180 after tax…upgrading H3 bulbs to sum bulbs with a purple HID look at work for 24.99 a pair. Theres another 50 bux. the plywood…cost nothin had it laying around but u dont need a lot…fiberglass repair kit cost 20 and a paintbrush $1. bondo 10bux. Total $251 roughly for kick a$$ custom lights. How much for the Piaa setup? any closer pics? thanks

PS: With mysetup u loose a few small pounds 8) always a good thing no matter how small
:? Their not a english brand…i couldnt even attempt to type the brand as its in whack writing…theres no english writting on these. The bulbs were available at that car decor booth at Erinmills. The place is moved to a garage on ridgeway where we do all kinds of installations. But the bulbs are pretty popular. Their better than sylvania. i call them HID wanna be’s. The purple ones are illegal as their pretty purple but as im only getting them in H3 form you wont notice the full effect if they were H4s. The bigger the bulb the more improvement over stock you will find.

Im a bad kid and got my computer taken away from skipping a week of school so i cant get the pics of my completed drivers side headlight… The PC im on is the biggest POS ever and i dont get my pc back till xmas break. The thing looks supper sexy…i honestly think it looks more like a dual scoop for air rather than lights…and they light up the road far better than stock but the bulbs my lights came with are quite yellow…apparently illegal to have yellow headlights but its ok to have yellow fogs… :? anyone kno?? The yellow sure does make the lines on the road stand out. Pics will b up in a month or so…hopefully. This project took mabe 10 hours not including letting stuff dry and thats one headlight. cost 200-250ish.

When i can afford to change the bulbs to white i shouldnt have any probles with cops. No offence but maybe you could judge wether or not my lights are legit when i post pics in maybe a months time?
