WTB:stock evo internals

basically looking for evo 8/9 pistons, rods.

:giggedy

if you’re already in the why don’t you get some eagles or somethin…

my goal is around 350 :nod
no need for forged internals
evo internals are good to about 400~450

If you want Evo cams/valvesprings/retainers let me know :nod

I don’t think evo cams will work on a 7bolt 4g63

Evolution 4g63 cams will fit into a 1/2 gen 4g63 head, however due to reversed head orientation on the Evo there’s some work that need to be done to make them function properly. CAS trigger mounting, window position, cam gear timing, etc, etc. You also have to degree in the cams when installing the timing components as the marks do not line up no matter what gears you use. They can work, but it’s often cheaper to just buy aftermarket cams, and more beneficial anyway.

Evo 8/9 bottom internals rated to 450whp safe at stock rev limit(~500whp has been stated though), anything over the stock rev limit and the rods/bolts get seriously stressed(big end distortion which leads to loss of oil pressure and big end failure). Stock rod bolts typically let go first though and ARP fasteners in the stock rods are a good investment.

I have a set of Evo 9 rods at the machine shop, but I’d have to check them for big end roundness before I’d say they’re good to go. Pistons I do not have, but you can get them on Evo M all day long. I have a few Evo 4g63 engine builds starting probably in mid Feb, so if you can wait till then I’ll have 3 sets of stock guts to choose from.

:bowdown

good to hear!
yeah my engine is still in excellent condition so i prolly wont NEED it until next year but i have a spare 7bolt longblock so im just looking at options
let me know when you get hands on those pistons and rods ill snatch them off you asap! :nod

Valves, springs, retainers, guides and keepers are all the same with the DSM and EVO

you say you only want 350 or so hp, but really, if youre into the motor, its better to build it a little more than the initial goal, rather than have to build it again, because we all know. power is addictive, no matter what you have you always want more… if you ever buy Eagle anything, get them balanced.

i can talk to some people i know about stock 8/9 rods… but you cant beat(for an oem component build) some 1g Big rods with ARP hardware and a 2g 8.5:1 piston, clevite bearings, arp head studs and some HKS 272’s that combo is strong and will make good power too.

that would be sweet! let me know if you know anyone with evo internals :nod yeah i have to agree with you. power is addictive :lol id love to pickup a 6bolt and build the crap out of it but it’ll take me ages to finish the build since money is an issue. i want this car to be very streetable and i probably wont reach 350 for another year or two. assuming my 7bolt holds up that long which i doubt :tong
and that setup you just mentioned seems to be very popular and cheap and again, im open to options but in a cheaper way :lol

a friend of mine out in washington just did an AMS 2liter and an HTA 35R on his evo, dont know if he wrecked the bottom end before or what happened, it used to be a buschur 20g, then an FP Red on stock bottom end. so it was pushed hard. ill talk to him and see if the rods are still good and if hes even got them still. if he does ill see what he wants and can pick them up since im heading out the washington for a little trip soon… 1G big rods are easy to find, my old roomate has a set laying around i can talk to him as well about them. i know hes got an entire 6 bolt setup hes trying to get rid of, issue is, he is in Orlando, Fl

sweet man let me know! :banana :banana

Back on topic.
Jae are you putting these parts in the black car or your spare engine.
What the fux you gonna do with the yellow car? :rofl

is that supposed to be some new type of highschool-esque insult?

i know the platforms well, whats the problem? i know alot about DSM’s, Supras and ST202-205 celicas too, whats the issue?

its going in my block out of my 95 gsx since the block+head is basically fresh
hot tanked,decked,3 angle valve job, porting, polished crank, etc. done like 9k before i said bye bye to the car :headbang
and for the yellow car…dont know dont care it can sit outside all day and i could care less :lol

what is this said yeller car. i need teh dsm parts!
