WTB VG30DETT

Well not so good news when the plenum was pulled to replace solid and rubber coolant lines. Most of the steel lines were corroded and plugged. One turbo coolant line was corroded and plugged as well. I had already replaced the rad because of the nasty coloured coolant but apparently the previous owner may have for a prolonged period of time used some sort of tap water or a very acidic water that has made a mess out of eveything it touched. The cost of trying to either fabricate the hard lines that attach to the engine and plenum would be cost prohibitive. At any rate I’m at a point of no return and I need to source another engine.
I could use some good suggestions on who can provide a reliable VG30DETT where it’s history won’t be a complete ??? I inmagine some of you may know of a good JDM engine source place (Importer) for an engine. I like to find one within the the next few days if possible. Your help will be appreciated. Cheers,
John

if u want im sponsered by a importer and i also work for them now so pm exaclty what u need and ill find it for you

Is that the reason you were saying one of your turbos has a lot of endplay?
I was talking to Dell (funkd5 - Silver 300ZX TT) last night and he said he has a VG30DETT lying around with dead pistons. I’m not sure if he’s willing to sell, but maybe you can take it off his hands and peice your engine together?? Just a thought.
That way you get a cheaper engine and he gets a bit of cash for his loss.

www.240sx.ca He could get you just about anything. Varun is very trusted in the 240 community

www.jdm-online.com got us a good RB26 last time… contact Nesar… he compression tests the motor before it leaves his shop… Varun is good too; he hooked us up with our SR20DET motor… haven’t installed it yet though…

VG30DETT 300ZX Twin-Turbo - $1949 US shipped… they are in Montreal…

My best VG30DETT options from my research tells me that when it comes to the JDM engines, I should stay away from any late 95 or 96 since they don’t have the variable valve timing. I should also steer clear of any engine that was an Automatic since they apparently used smaller turbo’s. They spooled quicker but at the expense of a resulted loss of 18hp. And of course I should stay away from the OBD II TT’s as well.
Does this sound correct?? Have I missed anything?

call Bruce at japan Auto parts 416-783-8086, he has the motors checked for compression before they remove them from the car, hes got the best warranty in the business 6 months, if anything goes wrong he’ll fix it, replace it and do the labour or reimnburse you for the labour, my mechanic has known him a long time and Bruce will look after you. hes not the cheapest but if you want to rest easy at night and have some recourse hes the man to see for a JDM motor
