Hey all,
Looking for a gaming headset for my 360. My main concern is mic pick up.
Suggestions? Personal headset experiences?
Thanks all.

IDK so much about console headsets
but out of all the people I know that game on consoles love turtle beach headsets
Ok, if you’re gonna buy a headset, it’s a personal decision. I’ve used and or had just about every set up. Right now I use the Turtle Beach X41’s. But since Astro came out with the wireless mixamp, I might get that if I get back into gaming.
Most gamers will tell you to either get Astro A40’s or Tritton AX Pro’s. AX Pro’s are nice. They sound well and what not. But they’re no better than the AX720’s. My issue with Tritton is ever since they got bought by MadKatz, their quality went to shit and they look like Playschool “My First Headset” or something.
Astro’s are expensive, and I love them. The trick is the mixamp. The cans themselves are nothing more than standard. Turtle Beach’s are well, Turtle Beaches. They will work. And sometimes well. And over time, they fall apart.
Best set up I have seen to date…
That is slightly more expensive than my X41’s, and cheaper than the Astro A40’s. Gives you amazing sound quality.
But if I had to suggest a headset to just buy, and just use…
(GOOD) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826235008&Tpk=tritton%20ax720 $140
(BETTER) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16874502005&Tpk=turtle%20beach%20x41 $170
(BEST) http://www.astrogaming.com/ $200 - $280 depending on model.
(Keep in mind, this is all my personal opinion.)
I bought Sketchy a turtle beach headset about a year ago, no complaints!
ok , that was an impressive post omega… but did you ever think that you could have a gaming problem ? :rofl
If it’s just voice you’re looking for, the wireless one is the cat’s pajamas.
lol. I might have been pretty bad with gaming at one time…
And I thought I was legit with my plantronics 777 lol Thats a list
It’s not even a 1/4 of the things and set ups I have tried. The whole thing that got me started on a headset was the Wifey got sick of hearing gunshots, and I played at night when the kids where sleeping and the Wifey was studying. Then I realized how much better it is to play with a headset on, on any game. Even on Lego games. I still use it even if I am playing by myself.
The only way I would suggest wireless though, is if you have kids or people that tend to walk in front of the TV.
Although I did forget to mention that if you’re just looking for game sound and voice and you’re not worried about the surround sound, either Turtle Beach X31’s or Tritton AX180’s. I personally prefer the X31’s. Turtle Beach’s are a bit bass heavy though…
TURTLE BEACH!!! i got a set of X11 and i love em
turtle beach x31 and i got them for free! i love them sooo much. the mic is awesome and the game sound through the headphones is great. i think there 100 new tho which kinda is not cool
Bought my girlfriends little brother a set of the Tritton AX180’s for christmas. They mic didnt work so he returned them and got a turtle beach set and apparently loves them.
I did some experimenting today and wound up with the TB X11’s.
At my disposal (my friends at school), we had all but TBX31’s and Astro headsets (literally in my gamer group we had 10+headsets :lol). My first concern was mic pick up, and turtle beaches pick up my voice the best by a longshot. So I wound up between the X41’s or X11’s.
I have to say, the X41’s were the best, but I have 2 complaints. The first was the frequency of the tuner interferes with my wireless router, which I don’t have the power to play with at school. The second is kinda weird, footsteps (people sneaking around in COD mostly), is SUPER faint in the X41’s, where this seemed to not be as much an issue as the X11’s. When the X41’s starting costing me killstreaks, I settled on the X11’s.
So far for $60, I am satisfied. I have the extended protection plan on them as well (2yrs).
Omega, I’ll have to keep the Astros in mind for next time, it just wasn’t something I had access to and I didn’t want to experiment with 200+ dollar headsets just yet.
Thank you all for input.
Would this work?
^dick alero?
:rofl
x11’s FTW just make sure with what ever game you use go to audio options and change it to surround headphones. Like in Black Ops i had mine on theatre and switched what a fucking difference
Turtle Beach buddiez.
I have the x41 I believe. Whatever their wireless are. Some have stated that try hear distortion and/or echoing from my end which sucks, but the only thing I dislike is when batteries die in the middle of a round so I can’t hear shit. That’s when I get my camp on.
I forgot to mention the X11’s. Very simple and they work. Very popular too. Odd about the footsteps though. I thought it was too loud. But I haven’t played a CoD games since MW2. I heard the footsteps were quieter in BO.
x11’s are just as good as the x41’s if not better.
