So my Xbox 360 wouldnt read games and or movies if it did it took like 15 minutes of ejecting the drive to get it to read. So in one last attempt to fix it before Brought it to Best Buy only for them to tell me they have to send it out to get “looked” at. I was messing around in system settings and discovered that i can delete the system memory cache. Did that and reset my system settings to the ones that would be set in the intial start up and poof problem solved!
I really thought i was going to have to bring it to get replaced…
Makes no sense to me. The only way your drive wouldn’t read discs is if the laser was shot on it. Or starting to become shot. Cache would have nothing to do with it. I think it’s just a coincidence.
Regardless, swapping a working DVD-ROM into the Xbox is a pain in the ass because you have to get the ‘key’ off the old drive (original), spoof it on the new drive, and then install. This is the only way the XBox will see it. Otherwise it won’t work. Lucky for you, you still have warranty.
When mine stopped doing that it was because one of the drive’s magnets it uses to clamp/stabilize the disc had detached from the top cover and stuck to the bottom one, so it wouldnt spin.
