I didn’t know that you could do this… pretty cool. I’m gonna try it on my XP VM later

sweet! i’ve never heard of it, i’m gonna give it a go too
thanks steve…
I did it and my computer didn’t blow up yet, so it must be good…
I’ve got mine running really good now. Old school dell with a p4 3.0ghz, and 2gb of ddr2 ram.
Reinstalling XP last week really made it fast.
just did it at work…autocad opens quicker yay
I didnt notice any change.
Wow… I can’t believe that Windows doesn’t already load the kernel/drivers into memory by default…
remember though, when XP first came out memory wasn’t what it is these days (most machines had 64-128megs). It was probably for performance reasons. Now a days, 2 GB is pretty standard
The reg settings were there in Vista as well but I can’t tell if it made much of a difference because the Vista machine I use here at work was already very fast to begin with.
I can say it didn’t blow up, so that’s a good thing.
EDIT: Sure seems like programs load faster, and pages seem to load a lot faster. Could just be I’m paying more attention to it now though.
no shit… thanks for the heads up  gonna try it with vista later.
what are the specs on your machine, jay?
