I am trading in my Treo 700w for the XV6700. I am within my 15 days of purchase so they should not only give me the XV6700 but also put $100 in my pocket as well since the Treo is that much more. Many of you may or may not know but the Treo despite all reporst ONLY has 32MB of memory. The HTC Apache (XV6700) shows around 46MB of free memory (after the os loads from ROM to RAM) whereas the Treo only has 25MB free. Verizon lists the 700W with 64MB or Ram but for some reason it only has 32. PPCTechs.com have actually opened up the Treo to upgrade the ram for someone to find only a 32MB chip so this is the final straw… I will post more when I get to work tomorrow with the XV6700.
ugh. can’t blame ya for returning the 700w. i’ll give Palm an A+ for effort, but a D for execution.
Palm on Treo 4 life.
TREO SUCKS
my phone comes today too
I am waiting until verizon has to pay me back for my v710.
i seriously can’t wait to get thet fucking phone
im only sad it has mini SD now i have to buy that too
I still can’t believe Palm put out a device running a Microsoft OS. :gotme:
PalmOS > PocketPC
you are joking right?
bahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa funniest port ive seen here in a while, you do know palm isnt going to be around much longer right?
even tho i cant stand M$, there is no comparison between the two os’ in this case.
wise decision
bahahahahahahaha
now both of the apache haters are on board
welcome to the dark side
shit, this thing could be the next evo…
I am amazed at how much stuff this thing comes with compared to the Treo.
Cradle + External battery charger
USB Interface to the phone
USB Powered
Extra Stylus
Case
64MB RAM
Built In WiFi
I haven’t even played with it yet and I like it better. This thing has value like a mothefucker!!
It also is the SAME SIZE as the Treo. They include the antenna in the size on the spec sheet where the Treo doesn’t.
i liked it better, btw:

A BIG thanks to MrHappy for the list of CABs to use
-
It’s been postulated that you should do this mod only AFTER you’ve activated the phone and used it at least once in its stock condition. This is for provisioning purposes.
-
If any of your programs do not work after this mod, just open Total Commander and start re-installing the CABs until you find the one that is missing. Unfortunately this is not an exact science
-
You can install Audible and Sprint Store to your Memory Card if you really need them
-
Alltel customers seem to have an unincumbered 6700, so you should not need to run this mod.
-
If you don’t like this mod, just hard-reset your 6700 and let it reinstall everything
Only the “enable_ringtone.sa.cab” was in the extended rom folder. FYI.
Junkware? Sounds typical of Microsoft. My Palm runs as fast as it can, regardless of other software being on it.
I have hope that PalmOS will stick around. As much as I like the compatibility of PocketPC, I don’t like the bloatware effect that comes along with it. It’s a handheld, not a laptop. I use it to keep PHONE NUMBERS and NOTES. Unless it can do those things without being slowed down by 100s of drivers needed to show video and play games, I’m not interested. My Palm T3 turns on instantly, does what I need it to do, and rarely fails. Installing programs is simple. As much as I like Windows and being able to change the icon and name of a shortcut, there’s something I like about Palm’s setup where each program has a permanent name and icon. Each program is (usually) one file.
So, sorry. Yes, I was serious.
wow - whats with the hate for Palm OS? it’s highly efficient and does exactly what it was intended to do - be a simple OS for PDAs. There’s no question that it lacks a number of fancy features that MS offers. But there is something to be said for efficiency and stability.
that being said, give palm a few more treo models to iron out the issues its having with the 700w. it took handspring several models before they had a home run with the 650.
doesnt easily view excell, pdf or word files, doesnt keep formats the same after editing, doesnt play video as well, doesnt use a standard file structure
needs you to press SYNC <- i hate that shit
has no standards, menus etc, its all over the place…
SUCKS dick
lol, its ok palm is going belly up anyways. M$ will soon rule the ppc world also
Guys, if you want to bitch about the Palm OS, start your own thread, titled, PalmOS sucks… In fact, I’ll do it for you since I agree…
