i’d go with the treo. not a huge fan of the windows mobile OS. has a lot of reliability issues.
neither, blackberry FTW
sprint doesnt offer the blackberry… so if i get the treo then stay away from windows os? i think i like it better though…
can the windows os do anything the palm os cant?
come on… i dont wanna get suckered by the uneducated sprint dude when i go to the store laterrr
sprint does offer 2 or 3 blackberries.

here’s a comparison of a few phones that fit what you need.
really it depends on what you are looking for your phone to do. if you are just looking for a decent phone with a web browser blah blah blah. i think you’ll be fine either way you go. by windows mobile OS, i’m referrring to the OS on the phone. not your computer’s OS. if you use windows, either OS will sync fine. i don’t have much experience with the windows PPC’s, but everyone i’ve talked to who uses it complains about the reliability of it. IIRC, Dr. Dos uses a PPC, and from what he’s said, he likes it. he’s about the only one i’ve heard of that is happy with it.
EDIT: the palm OS is very reliable.
SERO plan… ur better off contacting sprint CS and try your luck with them. It may be a pain to get, as from what i saw ont he SERO thread on here, but it only took me one call to get it. As far as the PDA, i have the 6700. All in all, i love the phone, and i love that sprint offers unlimited data transfer with “power visoin” which would be inlucded in the SERO plan. There are some glitches with the phone. Freezes sometimes which a soft reset will fix. A few other bugs here and there. I am on my 2nd 6700 seeing that the display took a shit on me a few weeks ago. I don’t know much about the treo, but that is was reviews are for
good luck with the purchase
What is the SERO plan?
thanks… is there anything the windows os does/doenst do that the palm os can/cant?
i’ve never seen the blackberry offered locally
sero= sprint employee referal opportunity… like 50% off a normal bill basically…
no
Palm OS reliable?
HAH
It’s only reliable when you don’t add programs to it, and even then it sucked ass.
Anything multimedia (movies, mp3s, etc) = WMobile rules
Rock solid reliability = Blackberry
Meager attempt at both = Palm OS
I’ve had a Palm Zire, Palm Vx, Handspring Visor, Treo 650 - all palm OS, all wonderful products until you started adding programs to them. The 650 was the worst.
I have : a 6700 with WinMobile - it is pretty stable, albeit lags a little sometimes, but it has rarely frozen on me.
I also have extensive experience with : Blackberry 7100 series, 7200 series, 8100 series, 8700 series.
Bottom line : If you are looking for a rock solid phone for strickly e-mail, texting, and other organizational uses, Blackberry rules.
If you are looking for a full function multimedia phone - Get a PPC compatible (windows) phone.
If you are a hardcore palm OS user and want to have a phone that has an OS older than dirt - buy a Treo.
i just want a phone that has decent web capability, ability to act as a modem for my laptop, ability to play windows media files, email, and pda use etc etc
its gonna cost me a solid 450 bucks to get a treo, and my monthly bill will be reduced by about 20 bucks while gaining 450 anytime minutes…
im just torn between the treo and the ppc6700 now… it would cost me about 150 bucks less for the ppc
thanks for the advice
web capability/modem for my laptop, ability to play windows media files
6700 is your only option then
my advice would be to get the phone through the store under normal upgrade procedures…then call CS and get the SERO plan. it may take a few tries to get the plan though, as i recall not many knew how to do it
It’s a sprint thing, don’t worry about it Rick
