Thought about getting it welded but it’s a small amount of metal wrapped in some kind of hard rubber for noise insulation. Several people have replaced them with various aftermarket pieces that are solid steel only to complain about the noise and vibration since this is bolted right on top of the trans.
I’ll just pick up another stock one and try to be a little more gentle with it. Or maybe pick up two so I have a spare for the next time this happens.
The LSS that is used with the stock knob is out of stock, but a guy on ls1gto.com is waiting for the threaded LSS to come in the mail to replace his non-threaded LSS and said he’d sell me his old one as soon as he swaps it out in a couple days. Probably going that route but thanks for the offer.
holy shit this is the funniest thread I’ve seen in a long time. I can’t even read it because I’m laughing so hard. But seriously I’d just get a nice B&M shifter for it.
Gm shift lever (red hot stiching) # 92146323 list is 273.91 i can get it to you for 205.43 local warehouse next day. PM me the last 8 of your vin to verifiy. if you want the stock one.
After working at GM i dislike the quality of GTO’s. well all gm’s. The only vehicles that hold up that i only see for oil tires and brakes are Buicks…(Besides the Enclave.)
You dummy can’t you read? Earlier in the thread it is stated on ls1 forums the main broken shift knob/lever threads are from b&m. Learn to read dickface.
Don Davis quoted me $188 for the new shift arm, no discount. I’m guessing by the fact that your part mentions stitching it’s not the metal arm we’re talking about anyway. Not that I’d spend $188 for the same shitty prone to breaking design anyway when there is a superior aftermarket part available for $50.
Um, no. The broken part is from my bone stock car. As you should be able to see in the pictures it’s the shifter arm. The B&M would be a complete replacement unit but after driving my buddies GTO with a B&M I wouldn’t want one due to it’s very limited side to side motion. Doing a redline 3rd to 2nd shift on the track would be way too easy.
I know yours is stock. It was stated That on ls1 forums it was the b&m that was more faulty not the stock.
Yea your right my gm epc4 is wrong the picture and the part #(including shift knob) where the shaft from the knob to connect the the shifter kit #92147175 (725.00) which is bolted direct to the transmission. YEA im wrong. I can fax you the pics with corresponding part numbers if you wish.
^ I’m good. I’m going with the Lou’s Short Stick, just waiting to see if a guy at ls1gto.com can hook me up with his LSS that works with the stock knob since that version is out of stock at the only place that sells them. If not I’m going to get the version that works with aftermarket knobs.
