I would only by a skyline cash. I also wouldn’t DD one. They are a rarity/novelty car, you can get far better performing cars for less $$$. But I get it, I would like one, it’s like an NSX, I mean a C5 would mop the floor with it for half as much, but I still understand the appeal. I don’t like the idea of a payment on a toy, but this is America, be American.
I also don’t think you should ever be tempted to DD it because you can’t afford another car/payment. If you are buying it for rarity and it is using up all of your budget, and you end up DDing it, then putting it through winter is destroying the one thing it has going for it, the appeal of a rare older car that is still in great shape. Then you have a loan out for a car that you are killing the resale of.
Now if you had a Ferrari in the garage I would say a skyline is the perfect DD.
