painted taillights, paint peeling all over, 13 inch steelies, on my neon, which has drastically changed
Thankfully I have apparently “lost” this other pictures… but imagine blue neon (hardwired) everywhere, plue painted dash trim, homemade cleared lenses (which came out better then it could’ve been), couple of 12"s & a couple kilowatts in the trunk. had a nice magnaflow exhaust & a K&N though. :gotme:
Really?
(YES, that is 4 subwoofers that had to be shipped via PALLET).
And there were plenty more. But hey, I always ran nice components up front.
WHAT?
I had limo tints all the way around on a '87 Buick LeSabre, with rims, stereo, and interior neons. It was ghetto fabulous.
Then I had a Talon with chrome rims, underglow, system, and headlight covers.
Wait until Skrapper posts. His car was the epitome of ricer back in the day!!
LOL I didn’t think so :roflpicard:
my first saturn… gay stickar, blue and black and tan interior… i wish i was emo so i could kill myself lol
wait wait wait wait…
The best non rice ricer in NYSBarf history…
oooh wait… i forgot some things on my 88 nissan sentra.
some other rice things i did to that car was a orange golf ball shifter knob (that thing was sweet!.. i might put one on my daytona) and i had a 12V blacklight that made the golf ball glow really bright and my buddies and i used to wear white t-shirts and go driving around at night glowing like crazy.
I had a system in the car when i was 16 but it wasnt too ricey for the money. blaupunkt component sets, 6.5" and tweeters in the kick panels, 4" and tweeters in the rear deck, kenwood cd player, clarion 73eq 7 band EQ, sony 40x4 rms for the highs, 2 kicker competition (1994 vintage) 12" subs in 2cu ft boxes and a alphasonic 150wrms x 2 amp powering them. it was as good of sound quality that a kid washing dishes could afford.
car looked stock other than the 2.5" chrome slashcut tip and the sedate 13" factory look hubcaps.
to complement the 2.5" flexpipe catback exhaust and the thrush muffler though…
I built a supercharger out of an old vacuum cleaner.
it was an old upright vac and i took the cast aluminum bottom piece, hacksawed the thing till all i had was the blower piece and the electric motor. then i chopped the windings and stuff out till all i had was the shaft. when i was done with that, it had a perfect place on the shaft where a vbelt could ride. 2 small discs were attached to the shaft with ~3/8" between them.
so i bolted up some aluminum brackets to the motor mount bracket and mounted the thing there and used the AC pulley on the crank to drive the thing with a v-belt. tightening one of the mount bolts tensioned the belt.
i figured i could get 60k rpm out of it with the size of the “pulley” on one end and the crank pulley on the other end. i also figured that the small brass bushing would fail from the speed on the one end of the shaft so i used an abec5 rollerblade bearing. the other end near the impeller (which was aluminum), i didnt worry about it cause i had nothing that i could use to fab anything up to put another rollerblade bearing there so i just left it lol.
inside the “compressor housing” i saw that there was a large gap around the impeller so i JB welded some aluminum in there to take up the gap to increase the efficiency hehe. i had like a 1/16" gap all around the impeller.
i used some PVC pipe from the outlet to the TBI setup on the car. i was able to make a “carb hat” out of PVC and bolted it to the TBI unit and sealed it tight. no filter whatsoever on the inlet. lol
there was a hotwire airflow meter built into the TBI unit. i wanted to get another one from the JY and plumb it to the inlet of the “supercharger” to meter the air entering the “supercharger” more accurately but i never got to that.
so it was all on the car and guess what. I made 1-2 psi with the thing. then the mount for the rollerskate bearing failed (JB Weld hehe) and it didnt make much more power than before cause the drag was so bad.
but man did it make a WICKED noise. like a turbo but much lower piched and loud as all hell!
I didnt have a camera and didnt take any pics but i have tons of witnesses in mount pleasant pa :). i put about 10 miles on the setup before the rollerskate bearing mount failed.
i was 17 years old and had my license for around 8 months when i did this.
Its not quite in the same category as Paulo’s monstrosity though. mine looked stock. it just made a shitload of cool noises.
Brian
I deserve to go to hell.:picard:
what do i win?
The only thing that comes to mind is having Newman put my foglights in on my audi. They were fucking lame, prob like APC. They were free, and really helped in the dark, because the headlights were atrocious. I have no idea how I drove in the dark back then. Then I bought new headlights, and never used the fogs again. I did get clear corners though! Ha. But they looked so much better than ambers.
lol
I am also a victim of the obnoxious, somewhat ghetto rigged, subwoofer phenomenon. That was the hot shit to have back in high school. Also had the indiglo gauge overlays and a black light in my trunk over the sub box:mamoru:. Oh well, it is all part of the turning 16 and going to town trying to have the sweetest car in the school gig. Good times…
o god paulo I remember that car! I never did anything ricey to a car, but the biggest offender is my current daily, it came pre-riced. clear tails, fake carbon fiber mirrors and shift knob, shitty ebay headlights, ebay header that doesn’t fit right, clear front corners, ect… it was bought from superior, anyone suprised?
This is solid proof we need to be nicer to newer/younger members. We were all confused at one point. I miss my first rice mobile. Although it was not near as bad as some of these lol.
my first car, 03 neon with custom axle back, all flex pipe stuff from advacned to a 3 1/2’’ fart can, a few green neons that pulsed to the bass, ebay cai, an abortion of a debadge job, some mopar chip that my dad found online, not sure how that worked, siiiick shift knob, hey, it went doors with v6s stangs from a dig!
i hope you’re exploding with sarcasm.
yes. and I love it
I don’t know what you mean :mamoru:
He means you have some of the most ricery crap mods currently on the board.
