running that, its all i need…

exhaust setup is going to be: Longtube header–>flex pipe–>cat–>28 inch glasspack in the tunnel—> magnaflow camaro replacement muffler (which is on the car already… and upgrading from 2.25 pipe to 2.50 pipe.
( Its going to be slightly louder then what it sounds now… but its not going to be raspy as it is now, glasspack will quiet it down alot, but wont kill performance since its perforated, not louverd)
then putting a PT clutch in

I may port and polish the head and throw some crane #18 cams in.
could see 160-170whp with a good tune, enough to pull a high high 13 or low 14 with slicks or drag radials if i can drive it right down the track… i’ve only been there twice so i still need to get the feel of how to run it right :burnout:

Cool…how much are the cams going to cost you? They easy to change in that car?

13s in a stock type engined, no power adder Dodge Neon would impress me. Good luck.

$400 brandy new, i’ll probably buy them used for around $150-$200
fairly easy, I’ll most likely take the head off and port, polish, and shave it like i said, then assemble and put it back on whole

ya me too, thus why i enjoy working on them, Slowassneon has 166whp and im almost right behind him with mods after all this i install… (his only problem is major wheel hop and traction, also running street tires) he has a log style intake manifold which helps a little more… I’ve seen neons on a neon forum break 13’s with 160whp with a good tune and good traction… Its possible… just need to do away with the wheel hop problems

stock bottom end… now if i were to park the car and rebuild the bottom end… i’d be spraying it with a 75 shot… EASY 13’s

looks nice.

13s in a neon is cool if that is what you are into…but 13’s in this would be cooler it is cheap and close

turning a 16 second car into a 13 second car yourself > buying a 13 second car

:v8killer:

hahahah thats understandable, but with buyin a 13 second car, you want to go faster, like 11s, soo i dont really seeing bought not built implying there

I dont want to hi-jak his thread but in my eyes modding cars that are not ment/built to be fast is not cool at all. Black SS said it right putting a 13 second car in the 11’s is sick and owning a lt1 fbody alone is cool. But to each his own.

so putting an sr20det into a ka240 isnt cool?
or making a bitch basket vw like sailors run 11’s when it normally did 20’s isnt cool either :dunno:
the way i see it, so you see a WS6 go down the road, you say to your friends “thats a fast car” (true it is) but when you buy a car thats meant to be fast you EXPECT it to be fast, or faster…
now if you take a neon for say… and put a hemi in it… NOW THAT impresses me, along with many others i bet… and you DONT expect it.

to each their own i guess

No kidding. If you want to run 13s in a n/a neon at PRP, you’re gonna need to be there every week. I’d start now, none of this “i’m gonna wait until i get mod ‘x’ on, then i can go” bs.

lol thanks

Looks pretty cool …

Im not HUGE into neons … But … I will give credit were credit is due for sure. People that built them (that look nice, clean, and no ricey … like yourself and Greg(2.4 neon) … I think that thats awesome. Some people may not think its cool to build a 7,000 lb. diesel truck … but … I could care less … Diesels are what I know … and what I like. To each his own.

On the other hand … On that header … you MAY have clearance issues. Im not a neon guru by any means … but Greg (2.4neon) was running Howell Automotives long tube header … and ran into MAJOR clearence issues with how the tube itself was bent. It had VERY little to NO ground clearence at all. It was crazy how it was setup … tryed re-bending it … but still no luck. Just throwing it out there for you. On the other hand … good luck with everything man

Making cars that aren’t meant to be fast definetly has an appeal. I think it has lost alot of the appeal that it had 5-7 years ago when the knowledge that any car could be made fast was far less widespread.

I remember back then most of the hilljacks in armstrong county with a 5.0 an alphabet cam and flowmasters thought they owned a top fuel funny car. It was quite interesting riding around with darkstar in some of his hopped up 4 cylinders and beating these redneck drag cars. These guys had it in their heads that their mighty v8 could never be beaten by a lowly 4 cylinder and watching them eat crow after they got beat.

Now however I think alot of the hopped up econo car draw has gone away. I think most people with any concept of cars and that have ever been to the strip have seen a honda doing 11s or better, and seen a supra go 10s or better, or seen a dsm in the 10s. Alot more people know that you can make any car fast and there is alot less of the surprise and humiliation factor that you give someone when you beat their camaro with an econo car.
