bored and honed. 20 over. JE pistons, Eagle rods, Fully Port-n-Polished head, PT Valvetrain, Crower 3/4 Cams, AEM cam gears, along with swapping over all my existing parts.

I been wondering what john (Mtoliverauto) has done to his ACR ( I beleive its still a stock bottom end) and he’s runnin 13.8’s

looks like im just sticking with buying the other motor i had planed, (stock bottom end with fully built top end with the same parts listed above)
I was at first going to get the 1 motor with built top end and get the block another person had forsale and just swap the head onto the built block.

but guy wants $1500 for the built block
as aposed to the other person’s whole motor w/ built top end for $600

should still get me into the 14’s. which im happy with

Not trying to be a dick or piss on your parade but if you have to put a “fully built” motor to run low 14’s/high 13’s…then maybe you should realize neons are turds and it is retarded to try and make them fast. Like I said 80 billion times, buy a car where the platform has performance in mind then mod it.

Man, You guys are tough. Thanks for pissing on my parade. I’m sorry my NEON that runs 13’s on pump gas, gets 24mpg, and can out handle most “High performance cars” isn’t good enough for you. I think it’s way more challenging to build something that is not viewed as a high performance vehicle than to build the cookie cutter Mustang, Trans Am, Camaro, or DSM. I can appreciate all cars that are well built.

I can see what you are saying and somewhat respect it…but when I think of dropping cash into a car to have fun in I want a “cool” car to begin with…not trying to make something not cool run fast. I could care less about the challenge. But at the end of the day everyone has their own thing and if making a neon run 13’s is yours then cool.

my camaro did all that + ran 11’s & got 25mpg!as they say to each there own,shelby’s just a :tool:

240 runs 12.1 and gets roughly 30MPG and all that other stuff you say.

Not knocking the neon, but I would beat my own ass if I spent money on a built engine to run 13s!

its all in what you want to be driving at the end of the day. if a neon is ‘built’ to run 13s and you are happy with that and like neons, then cool. just like whitey with the 240. that thing performs awesome and he likes them, but im sure there are many guys out there with stock LS1s that would rather have a vette/fbody because they like them, than drive a modded 240 that performs better than their stock ls1. whos to judge, really. but from a money standpoint, i wouldnt want to dump money into a car just to barely make it into the 13s, but thats just me.
