eh, Z28 is the lightest of all the F-bodies, if that means anything to you.
but, the weight savings is very negligible.
Although the WS6 (which is the heaviest) does weigh about 160lbs more than a Z28.

Get an 01, then you wont have to piss with the egr value, and air pumps. also they 01’s come with basically the LS6 intake mainfold, that way you can save your self $400 bucks down the road. Plus starting in 00 they can with the new throzen posi unit, the better one. Beware of SS clones if you get one.
Yea, get an 01-02. Stay away from the GTO’s unless its an 05(6.0ltr model). But dont knock a 99z

yes SS clones run rampant… look for “WU8” options code on the door jam. if it dont say WU8, it aint an SS.
arent the Z28 and Formula, within 3-5lbs of each other?

i have been looking at some of these cars for a few weeks on autotrader and it seems like you can get an SS for a few grand less than the WS-6
ya, thats generally how it goes. for some reason camaros seem to be a tad cheaper. so what do u think u r gonna end up getting, did u decide yet?
if i can get a ws-6 under 40k and 20 grand or cheaper then ill get that, if not ill buy a ss for about 17

I say go w/ the WS6 all the way… also, check out the t/a hood made my Mecham… saw it on the cover of High Performance Pontiac last month… sweetest looking thing i’ve ever seen… http://www.mechamperformance.com/d_docs/h_FIRg4f.html … and if you go that way, i’d just get a plain t/a and do the intake/suspension mods aftermarket… the car will be cheaper in the first place and you’ll have better parts after its all done… but if you dont wanna put a different hood on it, i like the WS6… z-28s are nice, but only after you dress them up w/ a body kit or something (in my opinion) … and SS are definitely cute… but i’m partial to T/As
As far as reliability and longevity… i have an LT1, not an LS1, but i dont see there being much of a difference b/w the two (atleast not on the bad for the LS1)… My car is creeping up on 142K and it still runs great w/ exception to the distributor that needs replaced… but the optispark isn’t a problem w/ the LS1s… Mine uses about 1/2 a quart of oil over 3K miles, which i dont think is too bad… And as far as interior rattles, i dont have any complaints except for the rear area (dunno what to call it)… I hate the way the setup is in the back… the things that hold the speakers are a stupid setup in my opinon… not put together real flush, so it wants to squeek some if you dont put someting in there (i used a foam washer type thingy) to firm it up… Other than that, everythign is great! couldnt’ be happer! and i’ll probably be in your boat… looking for a '01-'02 T/A around 2007, when i graduate… (i’m hoping to not have to start looking any sooner! :))
