Z28 or Trans Am

i know 97 vette ls1s are junk also…blocks are crap in those cars!!!

since when??? i never hear ppl on the vette forum say anything bad about the engine reliablity on those. i just hear about that stupid column lock and the seats wearin out quick.

hun???

it’s more rare to see a 98 dyno over 300.

i read that the 97 ls1’s in the c5s are weaker blocks…not made the same as 98 and ups!!! and in that article they said that the 99 and up is the best for f-bodys!!!

hmm. ive never heard that. hopefully not, cause i might end up w/ a 97 C5. but then again, i never heard anything bad about the 98 TAs either.

x500

idk…i said something with the material made in the casting of the block…just wasnt as strong as the other ls1s

Just 500??? :embarassd

if so, that sux for me

toplessta did,eusty did!but there JJ built!

part# are the same!

:sign of relief:

yes…but im saying different material was used in the 97…same block and casting(which gives u same part number) but different material was used in the block

them the # would change!

Different material on purpose? If it wasn’t on purpose then the number wouldn’t change. :dunno:

mr.engineer!

I don’t know how it works specifically with engine blocks, but you can order the exact same material and if you get material certs for different orders they can have different strengths. They all have to meet the minimum specs though.

:moon:

can someone post up some proof of the differences between a 97-98 C5 LS1 and 98-99 F-bod LS1? cause its starting to bother me for some reason and i cant find any difference. i’d just like to know for sure.
