Z32 BRAKE SWAP

Hey guys, I was hoping that someone out there may be able to help me with something. I have the 30mm setup on the front and have changed the back with a brembo cross drilled rotor to match the front. I am running a performance pad on all 4 corners and have braided lines up front but no out back.

My question is this? Do you need to change anything else for this swap. I am finding that the front brakes now overpower the car. It is too easy to lock up the fronts. I know that changing the lines out back will help, but not that much. Bo you need to change the master at the same time, if so which one should you use. I would like to be able to put a bias in the car as well so that I can tune in the brakes to my preferences.

Thanks for the help guys!!!

you need a balancing valve… using the Z master aswell would help

Thanks, that’s what I said. Any ideas on WHICH ones I need and where to get them?

Look for a post by Sasha (turbo) on his Wilwood brake bias install

i put in a wilwood proportioning valve in the front line but all it does is reduce pressure to the front. it works dont get me wrong, its just not the best way to go about doing things.

Any ideas on WHICH ones I need

check this link. it will help with a m/c swap

peace

That’s great guys, thanks for the help.

Has any one installed a proper brake bias in there cars?

the only way a proper brake bias controller would work is to have all the rear bias you would ever want, then install a proportioning valve on teh rear line to reduce rear bias. with the valve fully open you have all the rear bias you want (for wet days) and then you can remove rear brake as you please. however you still are reducing line pressure so you need a master with lots of clamping force

what you really want is the BMC from a JDM S14, because it has the equivalent of z32 brakes up front with our usdm rear brakes

Im about to do my Z32 brakes too, what pads would you guys go with?

EBC
Hawk
KVR

??

on a jdm mc the lines would face the wrong way lol…, i fixed my issues buy doing al 4 corners in r32 brakes haha

Where’d you buy your Z32 MC? ^

Asad’s brake bias write-up. Give this a read it will clear up a lot of technical issues regarding 240 brake swaps.

Thanks for the link man. I didn’t even know my car came with a 15/16" Brake MC until I read what Asad said…

a 15/16" MC with 300ZX front/stock rear brakes should give you a firmer pedal than a 7/8" MC with stock front/stock rear brakes. It should also be ok for a 300ZX front/300ZX rear setup – and in fact, the 300ZX did use a 15/16" MC for a brief part of the production run.

So even if I swap out the rears, my brake MC should be good enough
