How do I protect my wifi?

I don’t have instructions for my router anymore, it’s been a couple years. I want to make my wireless connection password protected. While I just use the wireless, there is a desktop hooked up to it that I have access to.

how do i do it?

Set a password. or Key or whatever.

WEP encryption

usually 192.168.0.1/1.1

most time user: admin, pass: nothing or try admin

Diff routers have different settings
The above is typical for Linksys Wrt54G’S

so… i do this on the desktop thats hooked up to it i take it?

is it just under network connections?

Pm’d

you mean im’ed

This is true.

just enable WPA, you’ll never be able to really secure it. Kismac can break WEP’s in under 10 minutes, WPA may even be more secure if you choose gibberish as the key.

Turn off SSID Broadcast and rename the newtork something obscure.

I like to leave my SSID enabled to piss off my neighbors.

There’s 8 apt’s and all have wireless, so I tend to put stuff like Apartment 3 is a big slut, etc. and so on.

It’s amusing but I’ve yet to get questioned.

^^also an excellent plan

HAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAH this is amazing

hahaha, only huge nerds would broadcast offensive ssid’s. i envy you. and im going to fuck with the ppl moving in upstairs now

LOL

lol i dont need to be super secure hack-proof, just want my ish password protected

i’m gonna make my username hashland

End up getting it going?

A funny surprise in some DC apts…
