Man I was hoping to hear I ran 11.xx tonight “woot!!!” :sad
Josh…check the function of the bypass. Gt35R is a big turbo to spool, but 1/2 second between shifts is still a little excessive. A slow reacting bypass will certainly kill the reaction time of the turbo spool. There are alot of other “things” that can cause this, but the bypass is easy to check.
Also easy check on the TOB. Drop the rubber plug off the bottom of the bellhousing inspection hole and look up with a light. TOB should be pressed against wedge collar near vertical from drivers side of the inspection hole.
any way to check out the tune or something? were you datalogging?
you blew some MASSIVE fuel on one of your shifts, the car seemed to struggle for a second then POW when you shifted, didn’t seem like the usual “backfire” (I hate it when people say that, I know it’s not a true backfire, what I mean is when fuel hits the hot exhaust and ignites) just thought I’d bring that up
The MASSIVE fuel you speak of is more than likely excess methanol that is being burned off due to the fact that the car was falling out of boost between shifts. 35R is a big turbo on a 2.1L motor…makes it especially hard if you are having clutch difficulties. If the car wasn’t doing it before - the tune wouldn’t magically change and start causing this problematic delay. AEM EMS doesn’t reprogram itself :nono
you had one backfire, or whatever you want to call it, that seriously made the bleechers shake. It was effing loud, probably 3rd to 4th or something. Car came out of the hole… alright it seemed, but your shifts were seriously like 1 second apart.
I know, but believe me, i was shifting fast, its just when you get back on it after a shift the car just falls on its face…BAD. I’m not knocking Seth’s tune by any means, I just dont think he did any “drag” runs when he was tuning the car, I told him that the car was breaking up above 7k rpms and he fixed that, but he may have caused this issue while fixing my break up problem. The car used to have a 37r on it and it never lagged this bad before ever during shifts…even with this turbo and my previous tune I could shift fast and it would pick right up with no delay, this is a totally different feeling then anything I’ve ever felt before. I’m just so frustrated at this point and thinking about dumping more money into this car kills me.
I mean dont get me wrong, I LOVE my car, but its getting to the point where I dont think I’m ever going to be happy with the way the car runs. :headbang
so we agree then, the only solution is mass amounts of alcohol and selling our cars (me moreso than you) for atleast half of what we put into them. :drink
thats where i’m at. i just want somethin i can pick a girl up in, put the top down, cruise in 6th gear on my leather seats, and relax… yeah it wouldnt hurt if its was quick, or dubbed out, but it doesnt need to do 180mph and snort gas like a crackwhore
you can adjust the clutch pedal a bit, i know my friends have had new clutches that caught weird from the factory setting of the push rod for the master cylinder and have changed the pedal a bit… saw your runs, nice explosion in 4th gear too… sounded like a gun shot… better luck next time.
I would say the clutch pedal just needs adjusting but this has happend in the past and it turned out that the throw out bearing needed to be replaced. I’ll probably go out tomorrow and adjust the pedal just to rule that out. I’d be pumped if thats all it was, but based on past experiences I dont have high hopes.
I LOVE the evo’s. I was gonna get a 2005 evo mr from manginos but my parents wouldnt let me for some gay reason. I think i was behind you the other day on old state road. good luck with the car :thumb
I wasnt by any means saying that, I was simply saying he might want to take a look at the datalog and see what happened there as it seemed REALLY excessive.
It blew, no lie, about a 15-20 ft cloud of black smoke, and didn’t sound pretty…I thought something gave up the ghost right there to be honest, it was that loud.
But damn did that shit sound good when it hit boost :nod
