Ok, first off I have never been on Seth’s nuts. He has never laid a hand on my car other than to strap it down to a dyno. Second, it’s well known that Al has provided good and bad tunes. Like I said, he’s inconsistent. The logs don’t lie, and there is plenty of them out there that Al has tuned dropping down multiple counts of knock. I personally have never heard of anyone getting a bad tune from Seth, but it’s possible.
All we’re saying is that there has been a significant change, and good or bad he should run some logs. Imo, everyone should log their car after being tuned by another person. I logged my car when I got home from getting tuned by CBRD.
Nobody is on anybodies nuts here…ppl just seem to love to chime in with NO data to backup their claims which is just immature and ridiculous and in my opinion.
i have factual data saved on jays05’s laptop of an “iffy” tune from seth… you win some, you lose some. seth is a great guy like i said. im happy with how my car ran… it just got faster after someone else “massaged” things.
Woah, this thread blew up real quick lol. I’d like to clerify a few things.
I did not gain anywhere near 127hp by going to Al. The original HP numbers were on Seth’s mustang dyno which reads low, and i’m sure ICS’s dyno does read high. We did a baseline run of my car as soon as i got to ICS and it was 531.75whp on Seth’s tune. Al did a few pulls and some tuning and we ended up with 569.36whp, no increase in boost pressure, so at least it’s an accurate comparison. I’ll post up the dyno graph with the comparison tomorrow when I get to work.
I’m not trying to start a war between shops or to rag on Seth’s tuning ability’s, he’s a great guy, and come to find out my issues at the track were not related to the tune, it’s the way my boost controller and wastegate are hooked up together, it’s not right.
Another thing that Al pointed out is that the map on my AEM was a buschur racing map (not pointing fingers but someone who tuned my car stole a buscher map, either Moon, Turbotrix or The Shop) so somewhere along the line I got ripped off for paying for a full price and got a non custom made tune. I just thought that was interesting to find out. :ninja
I know for a fact that it’s not a “Buschur Map” on Moon’s end. I was on the phone w/ Seth for quite some time while your car was being worked on. I’m quite appauled that Al would even say such a thing. And for him to say it’s a “Buschur Map” is twice as ricidulous as they are one of his sponsors and if it was one of there maps that Tim had done he wouldn’t have made any chances to it. So I don’t quite know where he gets off, but as everyone know Al loves drama and has been moved from shop to shop for a reason. Nobody is doubting his abilities, just his attitude towards customers. And even more questioning his character. Look at his blow out with Big Valley for example… I wouldn’t take what Al says to the bank because it’s definitely not certified.
Wow, I guess the MD’s do read low. Amazing that there’s ~100hp difference between places/dynos with zero changes :tong With that said, the increase from ~531 to ~569 makes more sense with just a flash. I assumed you did a baseline run there, but then again I was assuming it still would have come in around 480x something and not 530+ Crazy dynos and their correction factors.
And let’s not get this Seth/Al/holding tuners’ nuts bullshit going here. Not the thread for it. I simply stated that I HIGHLY recommend that the car be logged and checked knowing how Al’s tunes tend to be and how most of my Evo customer cars have been from him…LOTS of knock/very aggressive timing…two things that an Evo(built or not) can’t take for long. Who the hell knows, Josh’s car could be super solid from Al and if it is great, run the piss out of it. But wouldn’t your rather know now, then if/when he’s sitting on the side of the road with holes in the slugs?? Just makes good sense that’s all :ponder
I was in no way implying that Seth used a Buschur map, I’m just saying what Al told me. Like I said, Seth is a good guy, I wouldn’t imply that he “stole” someone elses map by any means, i just thought it was interesting that Al said that. Who knows if it’s true or not. I didnt mean to ruffle any feathers or anything so I apologize if I started anything.
When you get the logs, send the file to either Justin or myself and we’ll take a peek at it too for you. I’d just like to see it good. If that’s cool by you that is ;D
Al definitely isn’t a bad guy or tuner( although he does tend to be a cocky, arrogant SOB on the phone) he just has a flip flop reputation. It’s kinda like getting a newly built car off the assembly line…the day of assembly determine the cars longevity/reliability…you may get a “Wednesday” tune from him where’s he’s focused, then again you may end up with that “Friday” tune where he’s thinking about hitting the bars later that night and looking for booze money :haha
