why not the 2871r… nearly the same spool with better top end.
nearly? how nearly i want full boost before 3k at around 20psi, should be good for 300whp
within 100-200rpms of spool with 330whp capable.
so it would still be right around 3k with a little more power, stock itnernals are still good at that point to ;D might have to replace the crank though its been suggested at 300 wheel to change it
1g is not going to get you much mark…
a 28rs is not going to spool at 3k with 20psi… if you want that, get a k04-020 or 023… a crank is recommened at 330 whp?!?1?1?/1 WTF are you talking about? forcefed just put down nearly 700whp on stock crank… please get your facts straight… just get chipped and leave it at that.
Yeah, listen to Pete…
…Then worry about keeping up with me ;D :haha
one last thing mark…
if TUNED properly the stock bottom end will hold the power of a 2871r … if you want to strengthen it… throw in some rods and pistons (recommend boxer6) and be done with it… (but yeah you’re realistically looking at $3-4k minimum)
to hold the power of a 2871R on a 1.8T you will need a conservative tune… the stock rods start to go on borrowed time around 350whp… hell, a buddy of mine who has a 28rs blew the bottom end with only 300whp with about 280-300ish wheel… that was with only 440cc injctors… what kills the rods is the torque spike around 4200~ rpms…
edit: the tuning is everything.
hence why i recommended the rods/pistons be done… :confused
i know, i’m just stating that the rods are the weak point of the 1.8t… the pistons have been proven to hold over 500whp… but if your already in the motor, you might aswell replace them.
rods, pistons, bearings, labor, arp head bolts, gaskets, labor/machining, 2871r, injectors, walbro 255, full 3" exhaust, 44mm WG, tune… EASY $4-5k… mcbitchin, take whatever you think something will cost… then double it for safety.
double the cost… found that out the hard way… :lmao
38mm wastegate flanges have a tendency to leak… 44mm tial with the v-band flange rarely leak… easier installation as well… 44mm gate FTW.
no leaks here… freshly decked mani’s FTW!
well misinformation ftl, i was told by somebody on a vw/audi site that the crank should be replaced at around 300whp and the rest of the internals were good until about there, forged internals stock ftw, now pete instead of being a dick why dont you tell me what i would need to replace im assuming atleast rods, possibly pistons but if im ripping apart the head might as well do them anyways, now i did over-exagerate a bit i wouldnt have a full build at 2k but i’d be damn close, i know i need software, fueling, 3" t-back, fmic, and the obvious turbo the 2871
we already told you… be ready for a $5k bill to be there.
Software for BT: $800
Full 3" Turboback: At least $700
FMIC: At least $700-$800
GT2871 : $1200
You forgot the mani for the Big Turbo ( at least $700), Injectors and all the other BS that will run you at least $500
These were all very modest numbers as well…most items will be more.
You want my honest advice? (well too bad cause here it comes either way) Start small and set all the ground work. Exhaust, FMIC, etc… Then if you still want more power go for the big turbo. Start small and work your way up to it. You will be happier and learn more about your car along the way. If you were to go big turbo tomorrow…its would cost at least $5g’s for the kit…another $1-2g’s for labor…then Exhaust/FMIC (about another $2g’s)…then a week later your clutch will got…another $2g’s for a clutch, flywheel and install. See where I am coming from yet? :ponder
THANKYOU!
not being a dick, just telling you the troof.
:sad i better start whoring myself
