I just picked up some new rims and they need to be sittin’ a lil’ flusher. I was told it is safe to use up to 10mm spacers on the stock studs. Is this true?
i had that until i gto adapters should be fine
People will tell you many things.
Research will show you that if you want to be safe, then 5mm to 7mm at
most on stock wheels and stock studs.
How long were you running those on your stock studs? Did you have to torque them periodically?
5/6 months. i just torqued them to spec the first time and left them as is until i changed over to the adapters. if youre using them to fit brakes or suspension parts then go for i but if its to make wheels look more flush dont bother. if youre woried about the 10. i have some 7s lying around that i have no use for. send me a pm and i’ll givem to you dirty cheap. i have 4 5s as well.
download and watch before slapping the spacers on…

^^^ Classic…
In all honesty I would not trust 3mm spacers on stock studs.
On a 1.25mm Pitch you need at least 8-10 turns of the nut to be safe
on the street not to mention on the track and stock is barely that.
Defenatly/Highly reccomend and engourage longer studs with any spacer.
MrSkinny do you realize you were using at best 3mm of the end of the stud?
You are honestly one lucky man, That BMW was using a 5mm.
10mm is a deathdtrap waiting to happen.
I was running a 7-8mm spacers up front on my car and I ran into some issues in regards to the nuts stripping when tightened. I don’t recommend anything more than 5mm to anyone without proper studs.
I am only running 5mm spacers (to clear z32 brakes on stock 7 spokes)
and even then I have longer studs.
Basically I agree with Jantos. 3-5mm… anymore and you’re an idiot.
IMPOSSIBLE with a capital IMPOSSIBLE!
ARP studs. absolutly no question.
