11" Macbook Air, LCD Damaged, 128GB SSD, $400!

Looking to sell my Macbook Air, as I have purchased a new computer, and no longer have a need for this one. The computer has been nothing but great to me, and I wish I could afford to keep it, it really is the ultimate portable.

Specs:
1.4ghz Core 2 duo
128gb SSD
2gb 1067MHz DDR3
Nvidia GeForce 320m graphics card.
OSX Lion 10.7.
Windows 7 Ultimate w/ legit key

The bad: Sometime during my trip down to carlisle PA, the LCD suffered some damages, I was going to send this out for repair, and EBAY it after the fact, but wanted to see if anyone here had any interest, as I know some of you are into working on computers, and may be able to fix yourself and make some cash in the process.

The company I planned to send this out to for repair, quoted me roughly $250 for a replacement screen, W/ Lifetime warranty. Being that the warranty is not transferable, I figured I’d try to list it for sale in its current shape @ a lower price point. http://www.missionre…FUJo4AodnV9Ezw is the link to the company I planned to use. I have talked with them both online and on the phone, they use all 100% OEM Apple parts, and have certified techs making the repairs. If you are willing to do the labor yourself, screens can be found in the 100$ area.

Aside from the LDC damage, the computer is 100% working and functional, My room mate has logged roughly 200hrs on Diablo 3 on this machine, with the crack, without a single issue.

Will come with, computer, case, power adapter.

I see these going for 7-800 on Ebay/Craigslist, and feel that my price is fair.

First 400$ firm cash takes this away.

How did the crack occur? Heat from being in the car or impact?
Thanks

I had been primarliy using the computer to data log , here’s my best guess as to how it happened.

If you take a look at the sleeve I have, It has a slot for the power adapter on the front, my passenger put the computer away (tucked between the center console and his seat) and I believe he “wedged” it a bit too roughly, and the power adapter flexed through the top of the case, and cracked the LCD.

There are aboslutley NO physical blemishes, on either the inside or outside of the machine, this is just the only viable scenario I have been able to come up w/, as the outline of the power adapter pocket lines up EXACTLY with where the crack is.

Makes perfect sense and was kind of what I was expecting looking at your pics. A drop you can’t hide with those cases, they ding and curl easily. Cold would be likely to do that to an LCD but heat not really.
If I didn’t just buy an iPad3 I would take this right now. I have to think about it and may be in touch…either way GLWS.

Thanks man, that is really the only situation I have been able to come up with. I take extremly good care of it, just sucks that it wasn’t even something I did

This is an ipad and so much more!! You know you want it.

If only I could swap a retina display on there.
The retina is really what got me into the iPad, I read alot of PDF and it reduced eyestrain. This is the perfect ultra portable for almost any other purpose.

This shows the procedure or close enough depending on the actual era of MBA. It’s fairly involved but if you know how to do circuit work or laptop repairs it’s nothing too wild.

I agree, I replaced it with a retina pro, so I feel you on that. However, that thing is HUGE, feels at least 2x bigger than the air does.

I Have read through a few different guides, and while I’m sure I could handle it, I will stick to working on cars

Wow 200hrs on d3 Jesus Christ that’s a long time lol, this is almost a replica of my laptop the Alienware m11x just you have the apple version, I’m kinda really interested in this but don’t wanna put the effort into fix it…glws ill let you kno if I change my mind.

I meant by apple version, apple used the same hardware is all
