Anybody seen this? I saw it Wednesday night at the spectrum on Delaware Ave because it was the only theatre locally playing it (crossgates is now playing it though). Its the true story of Aron Ralston who was hiking in Canyonlands Utah back in 2003 when he became trapped under a boulder while decending into a canyon for (you guessed it) 127 hours, until he came to the realization that the only way to escape/survive was to cut his trapped hand off with a leatherman tool.
Anyway I thought it was spectactular, James Franco was awesome, and Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire/Trainspotting) has an amazing way of making you feel right there with Franco. And needless to say the amputation scene was tastefully done but a bit hard to watch, the sound effects were what got to me. Apparently people at film festivals were passing out watching it but I didn’t think it was that awful. Overall I thought it was a great movie definitely worth seeing.
I heard it was one of the best low budget movies of the year and was strongly considering going to see it but I just don’t understand how good it could be. He’s trapped in a canyon under a fucking rock and I had the ending spoiled for me on rotten tomatos when some douch put it in his tiny little review.
I will probably rent it but from all the reviews I got that it was more of an emotional feel good movie ( see Chick Flick)
Well if you are familiar with the story you’d know the ending as its a true story that made national news. But I definitely think its worth a watch whether its in theaters or when it comes out on dvd. Not really a chick flick either if you know Boyles style of filming he’s pretty good at making you feel uneasy in your seat.
oh if its not like one of those sobby chick flicks then im totally in to see it now. I heard there was some suspense but i was worried about the movie just having that kind of lame girlfest feeling
