305s are junk. Get over it. Build the truck with the 305 & later put a real motor in it.

There are two different flywheel sizes on a Chevy motor. Was the bolt pattern straight on the original starter & the replacement at an angle? There are 153 tooth & 164 tooth flywheels on Chevy motors. The bolt pattern on the starter is different for each. Most Chevy blocks have both patterns, though.
