i would need a 350 to make a 383 right? i think im just going to stick with the 305 cause i dont need power its a show car. it came stock with a straight 6 so this is a huge upgrade from that
:kekegay::tool:
how does that make me a tool. its not a race car its a show truck. i could built it up as far as possible and still get beat cause its so heavy. im putting a solid stainless steel flat bed on it…
There is no point in making it powerful. id rather not race it cause i wouldnt want to crash it
when its done and i get some money im planning on buying a car for racing and putting all the power into it
A 383 is a 350 block (4" bore) with a 400 (3.75" stroke) crank. A stock 350 has 3.48" stroke. A 305 has the same 3.48" stroke, but a 3.75" bore (or something close).
Chevrolet built around 90,000,000 small blocks since 1955. You should have no problem finding what you want.
whats a 400 block with a 350 crank,a 383
^^377
that makes a 377 i do beleive
a 377
is it better to have a 350 with 305 heads or a 305 with 350 heads. someone told me its better to have a 350 with 305 heads cause you have more compression
It all depends on the combustion chamber size. Higher compression isn’t the only parameter that gains you horsepower.
There are many ways to build a SBC, and alot of power can be had using OEM GM parts, but there are certain parts that you will need to do it. Pretty much nothing from the 305 is considered desirable.
since my 305 is bored out to 4" why would a 350 be any better except you can make it a 383? it should be just as good as a stock 350 right?
Another question. my pap (god knows why) toke off the original starter. I toke the starter off a beat 350 i have and put it on. When i tried to crank it, it sounded as if the apendix hit the fly wheel but continued to far and just spun. Does it just need shimmed or is the fly wheel different?
what the fuck is toke?
seriously stop being a jackass. you know what i meant and thats all that matters. idk why your on this site but im here to find more information about cars. if you just want to talk shit to everyone go back to highschool you imature pos
lol’z
You are making it really tough for people not to respond this way. BlkP42E is one of the more respected people on this site. He is teaching you a lesson whether you know it or not.
305s are junk. Get over it. Build the truck with the 305 & later put a real motor in it.
There are two different flywheel sizes on a Chevy motor. Was the bolt pattern straight on the original starter & the replacement at an angle? There are 153 tooth & 164 tooth flywheels on Chevy motors. The bolt pattern on the starter is different for each. Most Chevy blocks have both patterns, though.
Basic common sense, A engine is a huge air pump. Get shit in. Get Shit out the Max you can.
i understand that 305s are junk. blkp42e didnt say anything about that he was just talking shit about my spelling and i dont give a shit im not a journalist. idk why you respect him cause he never anwsers my questions. if he would answer my question and then talk shit i would at least respect him i just wouldnt like him.
the bolt pattern was the same for both starters. is there any way to know the flywheel i have besides sitting there and counting each touth?
if your questions made sense it would be easier to answer them

Count each tooth.
explain to me why 305’s bored out to 4" are any worse then a stock 350. as far as i can tell the only thing better about a stock 350 is you can bore it out and make it a 383
