1969 Camaro LSX/T56 Twin Turbo - 705rwhp

Nice to see another 69 on this site. Do what you want with it. It’s an SS Camaro. Make it fun.
Mine was originally a 6 cylinder, so I went to town.

Want to buy a 472 big block? It’ll swap right in  I’m thinking of going to a LS motor for mine this summer.

Mine had 4 wheel drums too. Forst swap was to 70-71 Chevelle front discs. Next swap was to 4 wheel SSBC disc brakes.

I agree, to both.

I am looking at some disc brake kits right now. Any tips or suggestions to which kit to look at? I would love a 472 but you know my heart is with the LS swaps so I would go that route myself.

Looking for cheap, get a set of front discs from a 69-71 Chevelle. Check into SSBC too since they have a few different options. If you decide on a set of theirs, get in touch with me and I’ll check with my contacts there on a price for you. Plus you can get red calipers PIMP.

Drum brakes SUCK on a first gen. Probably one of the best upgrades I did was 4 wheel disc.

As for the 472, it was cool, but it’s obnoxious. Probably won’t have trouble selling it. Doing some research on building an LS and getting some better driveability and coolness.
Got to bring that out to a few cruises and park with the rest of us first gens.

I am game for cruise nights for sure. Can you link me to the kit you went with? Should I reuse the power system on it and just get discs for all 4? Prop vale?

Also what are your thoughts on the drop spindle? I have read mixed reviews so was going to just add QA1 coilovers to the list.

I need to get some pics…but figured I would update anyhow.
Some new goodies
18x9.5" Wheels 275 nitto 555 for rubber(don’t want to explode the 10 bolt just yet)
ARP wheel studs for all 4 corners
Front big brake kit using C5 vette calipers and rotors

Stuff I need still for this season
Pick a rear disc kit, prop valve, prob a different master/booster
Fix a small oil leak. Looks like rear main seal but hopefully its the oil pressure sensor. Havent really looked
Look over the tune. Plugs looked lean when I changed them
Find the time to install any of the fun stuff

Wow, you’re really treating that Nova right !

Your Nova will have an 8.5" 10-bolt not a 7.5" like in a 4th gen. You won’t hurt it. They can handle a lot of power.

Fixed.

This thread is for the camaro ya silly. Nova has a 9" in it anyhow.

The Camaro will also have an 8.5". They are strong and can be made bulletproof if you need it. That’s what is in a Buick GN and most guys leave them in place until they are running 8’s-9’s.

Teaser.

its looks like dividing by zero. cannot tell if I like or not.

Great choice fggt

New vanity plate for the Nova : RDHDSCHLD

I like them. Chrome, while it looks nice on it’s own, would probably be too much with the trim. I think these are a great choice.

69 could be an 8.2 which are notorius for grenading. i tried to beef one up, lasted half a season. you can still find 12 bolts, up to 70 nova is bolt in.

I see no issue here, burnouts won’t grenade the rear.

Rear is the 8.5"

Wish I bought drag radials…thought these would hook on this wimpy motor. Wrong haha.
Anyhow some minor updates
Shout out to JD/Turbociv, Nitroinsane, Fggnirish, Sobo and the usual guys who help me out!
Finally a big thanks to Elma Automotove aka Pat(psychopjv) and Bill for their work last week as well

Some cool things happening right now,
BBK installed, Vette calipers and 13"(IIRC) rotors siq stopping powa
willwood prop, new master/boosted
Subframe connectors installed (huge difference)
Some other boring stuff, maintenance, oil leaks, etc

Going to pick up a built T56 and clutch a little later tonight. While this car/motor drives amazing its looks like my desire for an LS/T56 is winning the battle

Considering a color swap this winter to a gunmetal metallic. oh and maybe a new drivetrain depending on ambition levels.
