BOAT IS NOW LOCATED IN LANCASTER! A LOT CLOSER TO MOST NYSPEEDERS
You going to buy it tradersbase?!
Gotcha…kinda figured that was the case…way closer to most now. I don’t have room or I’d love to take it for the asking price. GLWS
Nope, that motor actually came with electronic shifting. There’s a plate under the throttle that reads the 3 positions.
That’s really surprising. I’ve worked on a handful 80s and 90s OMC motors and have never seen that. Always been mechanical.
Email me some better pics of it may come look at it gandler22@aim.com
Its located on the corner of walden ave and cemetary rd lancaster
JaysS- Come look at it! and if its an easy fix ill sell it for more and split the profit with you 50/50!
I haven’t a clue how to fix it. I was just really doubting it was electric shift with a forward failover like your buddy claimed being as old as a 72 so I looked into a little bit. Like boardjnky4 I was very surprised to see they were using electric shift back in 72 when all the 80’s and 90’s motors I grew up with were cable shifted. Hell, my 2000 Chaparral with an I/O and power steering is still a manual cable to shift in and out of gear. I’m guessing Evinrude was a little ahead of their time and found out an old fashioned cable was way more reliable than servo activated shifting using 70’s tech in a marine environment.
wow thats interesting to know…thanks!
This might help you, or anyone interested in taking on the project.
